  1. 5.0 Noravank Monastery (486 reviews)
    - Worth a visit
Saturday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Religious Sites
    Noravank Monastery image
Enjoyed my visit to the site. Made good use of an English peaking guide from the museum that is on site. The history and design were explained well so I gained a better understanding of the complex. Noravank means new monastory. The outside steps leading to floor two, described by some reviewers as dangerous, were designed that way. It symbolises that the way into heaven is not an easy path. The buildings themselves have been repaired due to damage by earthquakes over the years but the original features are preserved, such as graves in the floor of the older building. There are toilet facilities on site as is a restaurant so a visit doesn't have to be curtailed due to need of either. The museum holds various artefacts from the eons associated with the site and personalities who stayed here. Whilst I was there two weddings were taking place so it was busier than usual and the car park was full of wedding guest's cars so had to precariously park on the road up the gorge. See more..

It is a small place on the way to the waterfall in Jermuk. It’s very cheap less than $1.00! It has two floors of various types of paintings and a few sculptures also. Labeled with artist names, dates, and art title. The staff was kind. It’s a nice experience. It won’t take so long. Maybe 30-45 minutes maximum. Nice event before or after visiting the waterfall!

Spent More than 3 hours Public Transportation Systems
    Ropeway image
First, let's be correct: this is a sky lift with chairs and not a cable "car" where you are in an enclosed car. That said, this is a wonderful and relaxing ride up the mountain. At the top and on the way down, there is a great view of Jermuk. It's a short cab ride from the center of Jermuk and worth the time and expense, on July 2028 it was 1500 dram per person. See more..

  23. 4.5 Tanahati Monastery (10 reviews)
    - Remote church, beautiful views
Ancient Ruins • Churches & Cathedrals
    Tanahati Monastery image
Tanahati Vank or Tanadeh monastery was a notable center of the medieval Armenian religious and cultural life. In the historical sources it was referred as far as to the 8th century. The monastery was also called Red as it was built from red stones. The main church of the monastery, St.Stepanos, was built in 1273-1279 with the sponsorship of Proshyan princes. Their family coat of arms – an eagle with a lamb in its claws – was carved into the south wall of the church. The other church of the Tanahat complex is St.Nshan (13th century). Its entrance is decorated with a bas sculpture depicting a hunting scene. We got there on our 2 days trip from Yerevan to Tatev. It's a side way location (almost end of the road from Yeghegnadzor via Gladzor and Vernashen), but really worth to visit for it's remoteness and beautiful views around. See more..

Inside the cave there is a large diversity of natural geological formations, which are so unique and seem to be so carefully carved that if in other cases you would believe that only nature could be the author of such a wonder, then now you might doubt even that. The cave is truly glorious and it is due to the stalactites, stalagmites, helictites, columns, flowstone, cave bacon, draperies and rimstone dams that make up the base of the cave. See more..
