Visited Gerghard Monastery as part of a great tour with One Way Tours based in Yerevan. When we arrived, the monastery was shrouded in mist and invisible from the parking area below. Approaching the site, the scale of the complex could be seen, yet nothing could prepare you for the stunning sights within. My husband and I found ourselves as a loose end on Christmas Day (25th Dec) as we had expected the ski fields to already be open. Not to worry though, after contacting Micheal via email and then sorting out a trip through WhatsApp with a suitable itinerary and budget, we were picked up in a lovely clean and modern car. While driving Micheal gave us lots of information about Armenia and took us around some of the most amazing monasteries I have ever seen. Simply wonderful! Michael was a careful and considerate driver and played us lots of wonderful Armenian music on our journey, his English is perfect and he is very knowledgable. For us, it ended up being a blessing that the ski field was still closed, as it meant we got to experience the most unforgettable Christmas Day exploring Armenia and drinking delicious homemade wine. The entire region of Azhdahak peak is dotted with lakes and smaller volcanoes. The plateau itself is above 3000m. I did the hike from Sevaberd to Lake Aknalich to the peak and then back in two days. There was scarcity of fresh water. the lake water was ok to drink though but better to use filter. The hike was beautiful. The crater lake is super clean and the water is totally drinkable. We had good visibility and weather. The trails aren't marked but easy to follow. See more..

Ара — потухший вулкан в Армении, расположенный в Арагацотнской области, между реками Раздан и Касах. Высота горы над уровнем моря равна 2577 метров.
Склоны горы не особо богаты природой. Лишь северная часть покрыта лесами. Зато в конце лета и в начале осени, когда все вокруг уже выжжено палящим солнцем, там наверху расстилаются бескрайние ковры из цветов.На горе нету родников и ручейков, единственный более-менее нормальный источник воды это снега, которые остаются максимум до конца весны и то только на верху.
По преданию гора названа именем царя Ара Прекрасного (Ара Лер – Лер на армянском значит гора). Во время битвы против ассирийской царицы Семирамиды, Ара расположил свое войско у подножия Аралера, а царица заняла позиции на склонах Атиса. Согласно легенде — Аралер есть тело Ара Прекрасного, погибшего во время битвы. Издалека она действительно похожа на человека, лежащего с руками на груди.Внутрь скалы Аклоракар углубляется пещера, которую называют пустынь девы Варвары. From Garni Temple to Garni Gorge which is also known as Symphony of Stones is much enjoyable when you’re hiking down the path but be careful if you’re following the trail from the offline guide of maps.me It took me for a good 20-30 minutes to reach the place. The scenic view is breathtaking. There are some musicians alongside the gorge which is really fun to listen to but I don’t know the reason behind it. The place is free so nothing to worry about.
