The Old Water Tower of Ekenas image
The Old Water Tower is a little bit of an unknown pearl to visit in Ekenäs. You can borrow the key from the Tourists' information by the Market Square, and then you can access the old brick tower freely. It's probably around 150 steps, and no elevator, so be prepared to walk up. The view is fantastic, and you can see the whole town, the church and some of the archipelago. There's a safety cage all over the top, so you can bring children. See more..

    Kukkukivi Observation Tower image
It is said that Kukkukivi is one of the most beautiful observation towers in Finland. It is made of cast iron and painted red. The style is Art Nouveau. It was built in 1906 and it is situated 49 meters above the sea level. This free observation tower is open 24/7 all the year round. However, it may be hard to get there during a snowy winter. Kukkukivi is located on Myllyharju Ridge. There is only a walking path on the ridge. The path is about 1.5 kilometres long. The beginning of the path is in the park next to the church of Loviisa and Bonga Castle. You can also start walking from another end of the path in Street Antinkyläntie near the crossroads of Street Eteläharju. Kukkukivi is located quite near Street Antinkyläntie (about 200 metres from the street). I recommend that you walk the whole path on Myllyharju Ridge. In addition to Kukkukivi Observation Tower, also an old windmill (10 windmills were there in the early 19th century), a playground, an outdoor gym and many benches are situated along the path. You find famous Finnish poems on the metal tiles of those benches. There aren't any cafeterias or other services along the path. I think that Kukkukivi is THE MUST attraction in Loviisa! See more..
