place worth visiting, beautiful nature and forest surrounds these old castle ruins. Admission to visit ruins was from adults 7€, parking was free. Parking was about 400meters from ruins, but there was a really nice path from parking to castle area.See more..

We were given a tour of Malmgard, a castle dating to 1600's by the actual Count Creutz. He gave a guided tour of his home as well as the history of the property. We then had a light lunch, served in what used to be the home of the dairyman, now a small cafe. We tasted several microbrews that are brewed on the property. The farm is also a working farm , specializing in organic farming. There is a small shop attached to the microbrewery where organic cooking products are sold. A gorgeous medieval-based castle with a lovely garden and grave yard in the middle of beautiful Finnish countryside. The castle used to belong to famous nobel family Fleming who called the estate Svidja (Swedish) which transformed into the Finnish form of Suitia. The Fleming family had a lot of power and they established the first iron works in the whole Finland to the castle grounds. After Fleming the estate belonged to many nobel families in Finland. During the Finnish Civil War the Battle of Svidja took place here as the castle served as a fortress for the Whites. In the 21st Century the castle belonged to Helsinki University but after the University quit their work at the castle it was bought by famous Herlin family together with the owners of nearby Gårdskulla estate. The castle serves as a festive place and a congress house. Suitia together with nearby Siuntio Church are listed as Significant Cultural Heritage and Built Environments in Finland. See more..
Sjundby slott is a beautiful medieval manor house just a few minute drive from Siuntio town centre! The estate is owned privatly so it's important to note that it's not okay to just go and wander to the front yard!! The owner of the manor hosts visitors on special tours during summer months though! The estate has also a small café just outside the manor next to the bridge where they sell for example their own artesan ice cream! There's also a small pond after tje rapid stream where one can go for a swim! There's cyrillic wriring on the walls of one building next to the manor which tells the story of Soviet Occupation during Porkkala Naval Base era.See more..
