Get a boat from Ketapang Jetty. There were 4 piers with lots of boats to choose from. Choose from traditional wooden boats which are cheaper but slow paced or higher priced fast fiberglass speed boats. We haggled for a fast speed boat to take us snorkelling and island hopping for half a day at 700K Rupiah. We got it from Pak Yayat at Pier 2. Pahawang is excellent for snorkelling. Just off shore the island the residents built platforms with small food/drink booths. They moored the boats there as bases for snorkelling. You can hop from one platform to another. Fantastic ideas to preserve the corals but unfortunately the inexperienced snorkellers ravaged through some of the patches closer to te beach. Visiting the island accidentally and loving it. started from the very beginning with small boat from Ampera bridge to the island, along the way was so much fun and when reaching the island, suddenly was very peaceful. so many trees and family having their picnic. it is one of away from the city activity fit for family. either renting a bike or walking around is good.See more..

If you take a boat trip here they mostly drop you at the wrong side of the island...cause its cheaper for them, so dont snorkel there, theres nothing to see on the side that faces Iboih. Instead, walk the small cement path across the island to the other side-only takes a few minutes, and theres a small nice sand beach. From the beach swim straight out and start to snorkel to the right - there you have the most beautiful corals in the area. Nothing on Weh comes even close to these corals. Then if you still have energy , walk the small path behind the restaurant and you will find a small pebble stone beach on your right....start snorkelling from there...to the left....and eventually you will end up at the tip of the island and thats where you have the turtles. One of the most beautiful islands I have visited. Organised through Lorent Homestay. We were taken out to the island via fishing boat, the journey taking about 40 minutes. On the island we got to snorkel the fantastic reefs and take in some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever set foot on (and I'm from Australia!). I know, I'm a bit of beach freak, but Kelagian Island is indeed beautiful.. It takes around 30 - 40 minutes by boat from Ketapang port to reach this beautiful sandy beach. People usually take a round trip between islands of Pahawang, Pahawang Kecil and Kelagian. But Kelagian is less crowded, so it's just perfect for me and my family :). Boat can be rented from ketapang port, around 40 minutes from Bandar Lampung with the traffic, for around Rp 300.000 - 750.000,- depending on the size and time. The price for weekends and holidays can be slightly higher. Again, don't forget to take your food and drink supply, snorkeling gear, and any under-the-sun equipment you require :). I'd been recommended to stay at the Banyak's my a few travelers , so I organized a few of my friends to come on a trip. We met in Medan, and took an overnight car to Singkil (Aceh). From there we took the public ferry and then another boat to Tailana. It was absolute paradise - a small sandy island in the middle of crystal blue water. The staff are super friendly and the bungalows are basic but all you need. Activities abounded with a scuba shop on the island, as well as volley ball, snorkeling and fishing on offer. I went to Tikus Island, also called Mouse Island for one day during my trip to Bengkulu in August 2018. The trip takes between 45 minutes to a couple of hours depending on the boat that you take to get there. I went on a small fishing boat, surely not my first choice, but I was hindered by not knowing the language and not knowing where to go to rent a boat, so it was left to my local friends who are far more daring than I in options. In any case, it is a small island with plenty of sun shade from trees and palms. There are a few local vendors selling some food and I believe bottled water however, we brought all our food and water for the day. There are two distinct sides to the island, the snorkeling side and the swimming side. Either side is great and you will surely enjoy a really nice day here. It is a sharp contrast with the beaches in Bengkulu which are not swimming beaches. It was a great experience, my only issue was the small boat certainly way out of my comfort zone but it was fine.See more..
