4.0Elephant Camp(188 reviews) - Amazing Experience Nature & Wildlife Areas
We took a 2 hour ride on bumpy roads from Bukit Lawang to geht to Tangkahan. We booked the washing and riding directly at the ticket office of Tangkahan and when we arrived everything was well organized. First we went to the river with about 8 Elefants and 6 other people to let them take a bath and wash them. It was a great experience being so close to those animals. During the wash you can talk to the guides and ask them about their work, they don't speak the best of english but try their best to explain everything. After the washing you can hand feed the elephants and take pictures with them. Afterwards we went on a 1 hour jungle trek which was also a great experience. The guides only command the elephants by words, if you stay long enough you can also learn to comunicate with the elephants. This was one of the best experiences I ever had, friendly people, amazing animals, a once in a lifetime experience! Do not miss it, it is worth every bump in the road.See more..

4.5Minas Elephant Training Centre(22 reviews) - Amazing close encounter with the elephant ! Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Get to know this place from trip-advisor, and hence it became one of the itinerary on our plan. It's about one hour drive from Pekan Baru, and need a car and a local driver to get there. You will need to turn (left if from Pekan Baru direction) when you see the sign 'Elephant Conservation', and just follow the sign all the way (about 7km on non-tar road). It'll be difficult if it's raining day as the road can be muddy ! Suggest to negotiate the price that is acceptable to you first before you start any activities. We choose to bath the elephant and ride the elephant to stroll the in the forest. It's really great fun to get so close to the elephant and to bath the elephant. We then ride on those elephants we bathed into the forest. It's amazing to see how the elephant behave in the river and in the forest, and it became one of the most thrill ride and fun in our life !See more..
4.0Palembang Bird Park(16 reviews) - Awesome Place if you love animals! Nature & Wildlife Areas • Zoos • Parks
Entrance fee is only 50,000 rupiah and you can get to feed the tortoises and birds! It was an awesome experience having the birds flock over to you and feed from your hand! They have other animals as well and you can have a mini horse ride and take photos with owls, snakes, iguanas, monkeys. Some (owls and snakes) are chargeable if you want to take a photo but its very affordable. The staff are also very friendly and helpful, it would help a bit if you speak some Indonesian if you need to ask them any questions about the animals. So far this is the best place I've come across for interaction and photo taking with the birds. I spent almost the whole day there and would be back again! P.S. Note: Grab drivers may have a bit of difficulty finding the place to pick you up. See more..
4.0Gigi Hiu Kelumbayan(15 reviews) - Visiting the Devil Nature & Wildlife Areas
Takes a few hours of difficult rocky, muddy and slippery terrain by motorcycle to get to this devil's place but hell is worth the trip and I actually came back again the next day and had to sleep over at my guide's place. I was lucky because I found a driver/guide willing to take me there for around USD20 returns which no one at the time as willing to even go at any price. And what a journey it was and definitely not for the faint of heart. But I got what I came here for and it's so well worth it. Do not come here for sunset unprepared unless you're willing to stumble back home in the dark for hours which will drain you.See more..
