Tailana Island, Sumatra, Indonesia

4.5 (40 reviews) Spent Ranking #9 in Aceh Islands

Best island in Indonesia

I'd been recommended to stay at the Banyak's my a few travelers , so I organized a few of my friends to come on a trip. We met in Medan, and took an overnight car to Singkil (Aceh). From there we took the public ferry and then another boat to Tailana. It was absolute paradise - a small sandy island in the middle of crystal blue water. The staff are super friendly and the bungalows are basic but all you need. Activities abounded with a scuba shop on the island, as well as volley ball, snorkeling and fishing on offer. The house reef is amazing so we snorkeled for hours. Had the most fantastic stay and couldn't recommend this island more highly.

    Paradise Island
Truely a paradise. It takes some stamina to get there, but you certainly get rewarded. Tiny island in the middle of the blueest sea we have ever seen (and whe have seen some islands before). Nice snorkelling around the island and the most beautiful sunsets.. Bungalows are really simple and there is no shower, but who cares. Electricity only during evening to charge your batteries. Rufni was really lovely and it was nice playing card games with her. Her parents also very friendly, but they dont speak English. The food was great, everyday banana pancakes as breakfast and different lunch and diner (most of the time fresh fish with side dishes). Price is 375.000 for 2 persons including all meals. For information contact Malik the owner or mr Darmawan in Singkil. Defenitely worth the long long journey!! Wish we had stayed longer than 3 nights...
