Yes, the museum is basic, staff don’t speak English an it’s dusty but, there are some great artifacts here that would normally be in a wealthy museum ie from the Roman Period. Quite rare and amazing including the only bust of Consul Marcus Petronius Sura Mamertinus in existence. He was the son in law of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. See more..

This is an excellent local history museum. It has exhibits on many aspects of life in the area. The ground floor features archaeology. Upstairs, you can see trades that were practiced and local customs. My grandfather was born in Galati so I found the exhibits very interesting. It was nice to see a photo of the main street at the time my grandfather emigrated.See more..
