We enjoyed our brief visit to this park while vacationing in Newport. There is a wonderful paved path that follows the shoreline and can be combined with other trails through the woods. Though it was midweek, there many people of all ages enjoying picnics, sunbathing and other activities though parking was not a problem. I would likely be walking my dog here everyday if we lived nearby. See more..

  7. 4.5 Roger Williams Park (283 reviews)
    - Beautiful Urban Park
    Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Parks • Gardens
    Roger Williams Park image
Roger Williams Park is a tranquil, pretty, and inviting park that makes for a lovely way to spend the day. While on vacation in Rhode Island, we took our 7 year old daughter to the zoo, then for a stroll in the nearby Japanese Garden, and rented an electric boat from the "swan boat" stand and had a relaxing ride on the pond. My daughter enjoyed seeing swans and Canadian geese throughout the park, and we even spotted a muskrat while on our boat ride. Although the Japanese Garden can use some better upkeep on the grass especially, we found the park overall to be quite pristine. This is a great way to spend a quiet day in Providence. See more..

  12. 4.0 Watch Hill Beach (122 reviews)
    - Resident for life
Amusement & Theme Parks • Beaches
    Watch Hill Beach image
I am a Westerly resident and have lived in the area all my life. When I was a child we would go to the Watch Hill Beach. The merry go round is a must for kids! The beach is small but clean. I recommend Sift for pastries and Bay Street deli for lunch. St Clair’s Annex for an ice cream. Although there isn’t a lot of choices to eat at for dinner if you travel a couple miles to downtown Westerly there are a ton of restaurants! As far as parking there are two lots and they charge $50 to park but, it goes down as the day progresses. Whatever you do do not park on Larkin Road these are posted for residents only. If you don’t have a sticker even if you are a resident it is a $150 fine! See more..

    Fort Wetherill State Park image
This is a great spot by the water. There 4 separate places to access the beaches and rocks. The rocks are fun to climb just be careful. There are fun little trails that my kids liked taking. Great little beaches and even areas to cliff jump if you’re up to it. Ample parking. Bathrooms and or porto potties around the parking areas. Great place to picnic. The ruins and graffiti are a downer but the scenery makes up for it in my opinion. (You can’t park in there during Covid 19 shut down) See more..

    Conimicut Point Park image
It's such a pretty place. We live a 2 minute drive away but don't get there as often as I would like. We've been to the Caribbean and to Mexico and honestly, the sunset views at Conimicut are better. There are 'regulars' who hang out there with great stories to tell - lots of local history and just nice people to talk to. Adds to the charm! It's kept pretty clean and you'll often see the regulars picking up. People care about this place! See more..

  22. 3.5 Fort Getty Park (29 reviews)
    - Tent camper - no car on site?
    Parks
    Fort Getty Park image
It was a pretty good spot. Liked the private beach even though it’s small and rocky and loved you can bring the dogs on it. BIGGEST problem is you can’t pull your car to your campsite. That makes zero sense. It was close to 100° this weekend and we needed some air reprieve for the dogs. Ended up finding one spot we could pull the car in and just asked the RV owner if it was OK and he was fine with it (we had to drive through his space). Plus the seagulls will destroy your bag of trash unless you lock it in the car. Overall it’s a good spot, close to Beavertail and we went to Newport for dinner one night. GREAT views. See more..
  23. 4.5 Johnston War Memorial Park (22 reviews)

This park has great walking trails where you can walk your dog on leash. Great view of the bay and cool breezes in the summer. The pier is nice. Signs have been placed around the park depicting the history of Rocky Point. I wish we could still get clam cakes and chowder there or Del's lemonade! See more..

    Mowry Conservation Area image
I am local to this area so I have enjoyed this park since I was a little girl. I highly suggest families with young children to come here to explore as Smithfield's version of "Pride Rock" from the Lion King sits here. There is slow moving streams that are great to put your feet in and the trails are clearly marked and easy to travel on. This park makes a great place to get the family outside. See more..

Weetamoo Woods & Pardon Gray Preserve image
Several trails through a fairly sizable forest near Tiverton four-corners. As short or long of a visit as you'd like. Beautiful trees, interesting old mill ruins, and some rocky terrain to boot. Will be coming back in the fall. Very near the Emelie Ruecker Wildlife Refuge, too. Visited both on a July afternoon. Worth the time to visit and wander! See more..

    Snake Den State Park image
It seems like this would be a great place for mountain biking. It's super rocky, so wear good walking shoes. I was disappointed that there was so much trash at the entrance. Be aware that there are only a few parking spots as this is a bit of a hidden gem. See more..

a nice clean park located just of the road in Edgewood and gets very busy when they have the Gatsby days parade and the arts and crafts show that is held once a year when they close off the road for many vendors. 31. 5.0 Sabin Point Park (1 review)

    Parks
    Sabin Point Park image
Nature Conservancy and the Rhode Island Dept. of Environmental Mgt are creating a fish reef a few hundred feet off the Fishing Pier at Sabin Point Park in the Riverside district of East Providence. It’s very close to the East Bay Bike Path from Providence to Bristol RI if your in a bicycle. Also easily reached by car from Rte 195E via the scenic Veterans Memorial Parkway south to Pawtucket Ave then south to Shore Road where the fire station is located. A right turn on Shore Road. and a short drive and your at Sabin Point. A beautiful long sandy beach front extends south to Crescent Park point and the historic Looff Carousel. Children will love it! The water is crystal clear and Blue fish, oysters and blue crabs abound! When the new Reef is completed, so will tautog, Black Sea bass and scup!! So great to see this area restored to its formerly pristine appearance. The beach is scheduled to re-open as a recreational swimming area in two years! In the meantime it’s a great place to take a walk and beachcomb. Or if it’s warm weather, stretch out on a beach blanket and enjoy the view. Don’t miss it! See more..
  32. 2.0 Haines Memorial State Park (1 review)
    - cook out
    State Parks
this is a nice area in Barrington. It has boat docks and picnic areas. It also hosts farmers markets on Wednesdays in Summer. Unfortantely it has been neglected. The stone fireplaces are falling apart. There are dead trees and branches that need to be taken care of. Trash left in park, leaves and branches have not been picked up in quite a while. This is a beautiful area and its a shame what has been allowed to happen See more..

    Beavertail State Park image
A really outstanding park. It comprises the south end of the island and is quite easy to find. There is ample room to spread out and enjoy oneself on the cliffs, or to venture down to the water on the rocks and find a private little beach of your own. The shores are very much like you would find in Maine, specifically at Pemmaquid Point. The lighthouse adds to the pleasant features of the island. The exterior of the house can visited anytime the park is open, and there are additional times and dates that the museum is open and the tower able to be climbed. Entry seemed to be free as well. Be sure to check it out for sunrise, sunset, or anytime in between! See more..
  34. 3.0 Paradise Valley Park (1 review)
    - Walk, but do not touch
Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Parks
Middletown Valley Park is the newest name of a 30-plus acre field, once unattended land frequented by kids and dogs and frisbees -- then a modestly maintained tract frequented by people and their dogs -- and now a formal park which admits people and dogs so long as they don't interact with the space in any significant way. The natural landscape is plotted with carefully laid-out paths from which walkers are warned not to deviate or depart. While it was once just an empty field, it is now a very carefully husbanded natural space that, while beautiful and pastoral, is also constrained to such a degree as to seem artificial -- walk, but just don't touch. It's a lovely place to walk. Just don't interact with it in any way. See more..
