4.5Norman Bird Sanctuary(92 reviews) - Natural and Beautiful Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
All I can say is “wow”! We went on a Friday and the curiosity lab was open. What an absolute treasure! A nice volunteer named Chuck engaged the children and showed them so many neat things! In addition, walking by the chickens and the tractor were added fun. The hike to hanging rock is NOT to be missed! The view from the top is awe inspiring. I can’t recommend this happy and beautiful location more.See more..
4.0Newport Butterfly Zoo(51 reviews) - Vibrant display of color! Nature & Wildlife Areas • Farms
My husband, adult son and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit during Raptor Weekend 2021. The presentations on owls, hawks, peregrine falcons and other raptors were excellent. The handlers walked into the audience with the raptors so we were able to get great photos. There’s a small interesting museum and aquarium. The rest rooms are very clean and there’s a small gift shop. The pollinator garden was beautiful and we saw many butterflies. We did the one mile round trip walk on the wooden boardwalk to the overlook of Narragansett Bay and watched the boats for a while. There were 2 food trucks available and we had excellent pork asado. The staff and volunteers were friendly. We highly recommend a visit during Raptor Weekend or anytime to enjoy the beautiful property.See more..

4.0Emilie Ruecker Wildlife Refuge(14 reviews) - Easy trail and beautiful scenery on this little refuge. Nature & Wildlife Areas
I have been coming to the Emile Ruecker Refuge for a while and love the park. It's a very easy trail with no extenuating paths, beautiful views of the Sakonet River and some nice places to sit down and enjoy the views while having a snack. Great do go with the kids or if you don't have much time but still want to get out for a little bit. The trails are well market and this is a place that regardless of the season is beautiful. If you are in the are or reside around it's one worth taking the time to visit. Afterwards go to Tiverton Four Corner to have an ice cream at Gray's. The trails can be done within an hour or so. I go to take pictures so I usually spend 4-5 hours there.See more..
4.5Pezza Farm & Garden Center(11 reviews) - A great afternoon or early morning stop! Spent < 1 hour Nature & Wildlife Areas • Farms
Such a rustic cute farm! They sell all sorts of plants and veggies. The most fun is feeding animals! Wear proper footwear you don't mind getting dirty as it is a barnyard. The little store also sells local honey, jam and cute fairy figurines! Not a day trip more like a fun stop for a bit.See more..
Several trails through a fairly sizable forest near Tiverton four-corners. As short or long of a visit as you'd like. Beautiful trees, interesting old mill ruins, and some rocky terrain to boot. Will be coming back in the fall. Very near the Emelie Ruecker Wildlife Refuge, too. Visited both on a July afternoon. Worth the time to visit and wander!See more..
4.0Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge(7 reviews) - Nature in the middle of a Parking Lot Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
We reviewed this location for #ThisIsNewEngland after our visit there November 9, 2014. Well marked trails, family friendly, Couples everywhere, though far between them and us, as this area is huge. The downside is that on the Orange Trail, you escape the city view and have awesome nature everywhere, but you never really escape the noise of the city. The other trails are further away, so they might have a better sound buffer. For more on what we saw, http://thisisnewengland.blogspot.com/2014/11/powder-mill-ledges-wildlife-refuge.html, including some awesome photographs.See more..
4.5Pulaski State Park and Recreational Area(6 reviews) - Lovely spot any time of the year. Spent More than 3 hours State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas We moved to CT so we would be closer to Pulaski. It is a favorite cross country skiing destination of ours. The trails are especially beautiful just after a snow fall. It's also a wonderful place for hiking and swimming in the summer. Perfect for a picnic and just sitting by the pond all times of the year. Peaceful and serene.See more..

5.0Doug Rayner Wildlife Refuge(1 review) - A beautiful walk - and ideal for social distancing Nature & Wildlife Areas
Not exactly sure why this beautiful place was not previously listed on Trip Advisor. In the time of COVID 19 it is an ideal place for a nice easy walk - fields and water views - without a lot of people. George Street is near the MA/RI border off New Meadow Road. The loop trail is about 1.5 miles long. Also note the memorial by the gate - a Baptist Church which was burned down in King Phillips War (1675-1676).See more..
Had a fantastic time cross-country skiing the trails at Spruce Acres. The trees along the trail are beautiful, especially when covered in snow. We felt as though we were in the mountains, surrounded by tall pines and bushy berry shrubs. Our whole group, ranging in age from 6 to 69, successfully skied through the trails. The trails are wide, well-maintained and clearly marked. We had plenty of places to stop and rest on the benches placed around the trail system. There are also several picnic tables near the trailhead. The small farm buildings are charming and a pleasant reminder of the Christmas tree farm that used to operate here. Will definitely be returning.See more..
