if you are unable to just walk onto this beach you can drive and park at its very plentiful parking lot for a $12 per car. The beach itself is very large and plenty of room to set up for the day. During low tide the entrance to the water is rocky during High tide the waves are large enough for boogie boarding and you don't have the problem with the the rocks under feet. There is bathroom at this location as well as ice cream Del's Lemonade and some snacks. Life guards are on duty.See more..

4.0Oakland Beach(211 reviews) - Terrific spot for a relaxing Sunday afternoon Beaches
There’s the beach facing South on Narragansett Bay. With a view of the Jamestown Bridge and part of the Newport Bridge. Prudence Island is visible as well as Warwick Neck and Goddard Park on Greenwich Bay. The large grassy area behind the sea wall has plenty of shade trees and a couple of gazebos. Nice breeze coming off the bay usually keeps it comfortable. Most Sundays this summer there is live music/singing songs from 50’s / 60’s. Easy listening. Pick up some food at Iggys on the way by or bring your own. There is usually a frozen lemonade truck in the parking lotSee more..
Located along the iconic Ocean Drive, this white sand beach is nestled in a quiet cove, boasting calm and gentle waters—perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There are minimal amenities, so come prepared with food and drinks, beach chairs, and anything you need for a relaxing day at the beach. Otherwise, there's always the nearby Gooseberry Cafe for quick bites. The beach closes by the early evening, so you may want to start your day in the morning to maximize your trip and the per-vehicle entrance fee, especially during the busy summer months. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.0Watch Hill Beach(122 reviews) - Resident for life Amusement & Theme Parks • Beaches
I am a Westerly resident and have lived in the area all my life. When I was a child we would go to the Watch Hill Beach. The merry go round is a must for kids! The beach is small but clean. I recommend Sift for pastries and Bay Street deli for lunch. St Clair’s Annex for an ice cream. Although there isn’t a lot of choices to eat at for dinner if you travel a couple miles to downtown Westerly there are a ton of restaurants! As far as parking there are two lots and they charge $50 to park but, it goes down as the day progresses. Whatever you do do not park on Larkin Road these are posted for residents only. If you don’t have a sticker even if you are a resident it is a $150 fine!See more..
4.5East Beach(115 reviews) - We will be back; this is a lovely beach. Beaches
Putting my nostalgia aside - this is a beautiful beach. Try to go early or off season. The pathway into the beach feels magical, and it has gorgeous views. Lots of beautiful stones on the beach (at low tide) and good waves for skimboarding. We were able to find street parking midday in July; only for 2 hours, but it was a pitstop for us. There is a bathroom by the carousel for changing. (My teen son was convinced he saw a small shark while swimming.)See more..
4.5East Beach(87 reviews) - Nice sand and surf, not too crowded Beaches
We arrived at just before 3pm on a cloudy Saturday in July and was able to park fine. $14 for out of state visitors, paid cash. There was a sign farther up the road saying the lot was full, but we took a chance figuring that other people had left and, sure enough, there were spaces available. I think the beach is above average for the area. The beach was wide, clean, and long, with enough room to have plenty of space between groups. The water was refreshing and pretty choppy, which is the way I like it; more fun than the calm CT beaches farther west on the Sound. There is no housing or commercial development so only dunes were behind us, making for a very relaxing atmosphere. No amenities beyond some composting toilets and port-a-potties in the parking lot. We'd definitely come back!See more..
Calm waters and a wide sandy area make this a favorite spot for families with children.See more..
4.5East Matunuck State Beach(73 reviews) - Beautiful state beach down the road from Matunuck Oyster Bar. Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
Beautiful beach on one of RI’s coasts. The sand can be hit, so be careful. Lifeguards, which conduct safety/saving drills which really keeps them on their toes. The pavilion is great; but a bit pricey on Del’s lemonade, treats and grilled lunches. There’s also an area where you can purchase, t shirts, sweatshirts, hats, etc. I found the restrooms cleaner than most public facilities. Waves are often perfect for boogie boarding. Long stretch of beach is flat, which makes it easy to stroll.See more..
4.0Fogland Beach(49 reviews) - Atlantic at its best Beaches
This was perhaps one of the quietest and cleanest beach that can be, with only a handful residents of Tiverton around the serene Atlantic. The landscape is so vivid and expansive. The sky clear. We had come to Tiverton from Chicago. It took us about two hours from Boston airport to reach here and what a remarkably pleasant change it was from the hustling city of Chicago to this amazingly quiet beach town. Time spent here would always remain a cherished memory.See more..
4.0South Shore Beach(41 reviews) - great fun time Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
ok let me be allowed to say this, I read some people say it is an overcrowded beach and rocky beach yes, it does get crowded but that tells you it is a great beach to go to so first come first serve meaning many people love this beach and know to get there early, as far as rocky this is so not true only the top where you park your car might be rocks but you need that footing so your car does not sink in loose sand. the lower portion has NO rocks, and it is great sand plus your able to walk the full beach no problem at all, you will only see happy people here and the kids have a ball and great time in the water with the large waves. 2022 lets all be positive and focus on family and fun timesSee more..
We were visiting Newport and were looking for a nice beach day. The Newport crowds are not really our scene, though, so we did our research and came up with Goosewing. It was a bit of a trek from Newport but totally worth the effort. The beach was rocky, the water was refreshing, the surf was suitable for riding but not overly rough. It wasn’t crowded and those other groups that were there kept their distance. Many, many shells if that’s your thing. The drive over took about 40 minutes but it was mostly back road, country driving. Highly recommended off the beaten path beach.See more..

3.5Gull Cove Beach(3 reviews) - A Favorite Kayaking Spot Beaches
Gull Cove is a real gem. Don’t come here for sandy beach. As a kayaker, we love that we can drive in (don’t mind all the ruts), Park, and have the boats in the water in under 10 minutes. Off to the right there are some fabulous marsh areas to discover with egrets, ducks, and deer. It’s as peaceful as it gets. You could easily spend 1-2 hours round trip from the beach in the marsh area. Come back to shore and pull out your chairs to have lunch. People are always friendly and it isn’t ever crowded. You can also paddle to the left and kayak around the island, or go under the bridge and you are on the Sakonnet river where you can paddle near the marina. Our usual routine is to visit Gull Cove, paddle around, then drive to Tiverton Four Corners and get ice cream at Gray’s. A perfect day and a perfect outing. Gull Cove, a hidden R.I. gem. See more..
