Went for a 3 hr boat ride to see some Buddhist caves - I don't think these are real ancient or if they are significant in anyway - no one seemed to know - or care. Bit of a climb to get up and the man in charge would not allow photographs. The boat ride was typically Chinese - no boat left until full and full means at least 10% of the people had no seat - a long stand. On the way we stopped in to various sites so that villagers could sell their wears to the City folk and the boat driver could get his bung for stopping. The lake is getting polluted but there is still a lot of fishing done here.If only the Chinese would take their rubbish home and not drop it anywhere, it would be a great tourist destination.See more..

Not easy to find - the route off G1 with the huge signs is currently blocked off. Seems like the road hasn't caught up with the highway signage. We got there via HeiShan City, North on G102 then east on 211 (look for small brown signs), through JiangTun and look for small brown sign on the left (north) and look out for the rock with the red characters. The drive through farmland after the corn harvest was full of interesting sights. Donkey carts, ox carts, corn processing compounds, barrels of corn cobs and mountains of stripped corn cobs and leaves. The park itself was a peaceful place with lotus pond (no flowers in October) and a series of reservoirs for fishing and boating.Off season it was very quiet with no ticket office visible and no shop or restaurant open. From the rough paths around the fishing dams, we could see the corn harvesters with their ox carts. A number of fisherman with their cars parked nearby. Could probably bring fishing gear and someone might come by and sell you a fishing ticket. And suitable for kids to ride bikes around after a longish car trip.See more..

The park area is only a few years old and on the whole is well laid out and nicely planted with mainly local trees. Lots of walks and cycle paths but watch out in the early evening for hordes of locals on exercise runs etc. A few toilets are scattered thinly about but no paper or taps to wash hands etc. afterwards. Very few places to grab a bite and certainly no coffee seen anywhere in the park. My biggest problem is with the maps posted throughout the park, they are all the wrong way round, and thinking this may be a cultural thing I asked several Chinese citizens what they thought and after showing them what I meant, 100% they agreed! New cafe opened this year (called Victoria cafe) on town side of river,is also the place to hire Jet-Ski's, canoes, and take boat trips, best thing there by a long, long way.See more..
