It is a little out of the way, and there is no public transport to get there, but worth the trip. It is basically a bridge section with a restored section heading from the river up the mountain. The wall was easy to walk and the view fantastic. There is also an elaborate Tunnel system built during the Ming Dynasty that is worth the walk. I strongly reccommend having someone with you who is fluent in Mandarin. We negotiated with a local man who hired out his 3 wheeled car and droves us the 40 minute trip from the Shanhaiguan Pass section of the Great wall and then waited 3 hours for us whilst we looked about. With a gas station just outside of town on your way going south (towards Jinshitan), PiKou offers everything a motorocycle tour may need. Great food, KFC coffee, beer, smokes, and interesting locations such as bath houses, and small "beaches" that look up to a giant decommissioned rocket. We have been coming here for the last four years, every spring/early summer. Some grea restuarants, on the left when you first arrive in town, a place to buy fireworks if you are celebrating or camping out on the beach. If you are travelling on the weekend, you can find the morning farmer's market open and bustling. All in all, its a fun stop off for a day trip if you are camping and wanting to get some pictures at local parkspagodas.See more..

The ancient city was built in 947 by Liao Shizong Yelu Ruan. It is 1500 meters to the west and 1000 meters to the north and south. The city wall was destroyed at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. It was rebuilt at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty and is 12 meters high. It was demolished in 1972, leaving only 390 meters left.See more..
