Zoos in China can be really horrible places, so it was to my surprise to find that the Shijiazhuang Zoo isn't that bad. In terms of the animal care, it does not meet Western standards, but was generally good. As other reviews mention, the park is very large, but there are shuttle services available. I wouldn't call it English friendly, definitely go with someone who speaks Chinese. Family and children friendly for sure, the park is clearly designed for younger audiences in most places. There are restaurants, but as usual for places like this, the food is expensive and not very good, and the facilities are very crowded during lunch time. I would recommend bringing a sack lunch. If you are in Shijiazhuang as a tourist for only a few days, this is probably not something you want to put on your list. However, if you live in the city, it's definitely worth a day trip. See more..
