4.0Porta di Pietra (Kamenita Vrata)(711 reviews) - As Unique as Anything I've seen Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
This was such a cool random thing that we happen to stumble upon while walking uptown to see St Mark's church. It's a little sanctuary where people pray and ask for favors, while peacefully sitting on the small benches. The uniqueness comes from that it is located under a building, and like a small tunnel. 4.5Zgrada Doma sindikata - Trgovacki Casino(10 reviews) - Most beautiful building of Art Nouveau style in Cakovec Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
One of the most beautiful buildings in the main square in Cakovec. It was built in the Hungarian Art Nouveau style at the beginning of the twentieth century, originally designed it was - commercial casino, a gathering place for merchants and wealthier citizens. Valuable is to visit it from all sides. Too bad it's over time lost its purpose, today serves not as a cultural object, but only as an office for some insignificant organization. It is also a shame that the building next to, are facilities who disfigure this beauty, for example an electric transformer substation. In a city anxious to show the beauty of this building, there is sure to find a way to remove such sacrilege. A Čakovec just missing another object to in the city center offering a space for exhibitions and similar events.See more..

After visiting 13th C Garic Grad and the 1967 Monument to the Revolution of the People of Moslavina, we drove 50 km E to the small village of Daruvar, to walk around this large Baroque castle built in 1780. Although it, and its wine cellar (accessed separately to the side), was closed, the parkland was open with several pictures and signs in English. In the back was the spectacular male Ginkgo tree planted in this period and is now protected by the state as the oldest/largest in the country. This is a nice quiet area to enjoy a picnic.See more..

4.5Kameni Brod(4 reviews) - Wonderful UNESCO site that is accessable. Points of Interest & Landmarks
We stopped here on our trip from Split to Ploce excited to find Croatia’'s finest site among UNESCO’s 28 sites in three countries. The main road divides this site full of 14th-15th C carved tombstones, a common tradition among Bosnian, Catholic and Orthodox Church followers. They are chests, slabs, gabled tombstones, pillars/ obelisks, cruciform tombstones of indeterminate shape. 4.5Most Holy Trinity Church(3 reviews) - Blood of Christ relic is on display. Points of Interest & Landmarks
The consecrated wine turned into the Blood of Christ during mass in the 14th century and is on display here in this church on the right hand side of the Altar at the front. Known as the Eucharistic Miracle. It is known that a Book of Miracles was created due to the great number of miracles reported by people over the centuries. Most likely this book is at the Vatican. Its a lovely old church and is always open every day, all day for visitors. When you enter church grounds the door towards the left might be locked but the door towards the right side is open. Plenty of parking is available at the front of the town square, but you have to pay. The parking meter is a stubborn little thing so make sure you press the big white button twice and real hard so that the ticket comes out. (we found this out after 15mins :) )See more..
Congratulations! You have just found the Katzler Pavilion, the smallest tourist mega-center in the world, a gift-shop, museum, gallery, vault of Karlovac culture and history, and the favorite meeting place of the locals. All in one place. Its interior can hold several thousand people… carefully allocated throughout the year. A group of five can completely fit inside the interior only if they come with a smile. At the entrance to the Karlovac Star there is a small green house with an unusual name – the Katzler Pavilion. Let it be the marker of entrance and exit from the old center. No, we do not charge for entry into the Star. Nor for exiting. Today Karlovac’s great history is framed in small windows of the Katzler Pavilion, and the interior hides items, photographs and documents which are a part of the mosaic showing the town’s image.See more..
3.0Kristal Tuk(3 reviews) - Visiting where the beautiful Croatian crystal is cut Friday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks We have been visiting Croatia since the late 60s. Have fond memories of the beautiful Croatian crystal being sold - and enjoying at home. We have found the supplier of the crystal just outside Zagreb a few years ago. While in Zagreb with friends residing there who knew the Tuk family well from work they had done together, we requested that we go see the facililty. Mrs. Tuk came to collect us from our home (not the normal way you get there but it is very reachable from Zagreb) and gave us a tour. . We were given a tour of the glass cutting area and then visited the gift shop. In the past, I had contacted them by phone or email and ordered. They delivered that way quickly to our door in Dubrovnik. But this was even more special being able to see the facility, being able to talk to the family/crystal cutter and purchase the special glass there. Great to spend a little time to see this cultural rarity (only really in the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia have this skill - even others that you see now have people in these areas creating their crystal). While you are there, be sure to stop in the pretty old town of Samobor in the foothills of the Alps. Very walkable with good shops, sites and restaurants.See more..

The Erdödy Castle in Jastrebarsko, the oldest building in the city, is located in a beautiful old park, a horticultural monument. Arriving in a nice park you can immediately see a beautiful monumental castle. Unfortunately, the castle is now neglected. The castle is a lowland fort surrounded by water lizards. The castle was built by Matija Gereb in the period from 1483 to 1489. Later the castle bought the Erdödy family. And until 1922 the castle was in their possession. The castle is beautiful in shape with beautiful rounded towers. Stephen Erdödy, a lover of nature and hunting was founded by him in the Natural History Museum. Subsequently bought it wholesaler Ehrman, and when he failed in 1936, the municipality had bought for the children's home. Very beautiful castle and nice quiet place.See more..
4.5Sisak(2 reviews) - Lots to see here for a few hour visit. Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Castles
We began our visit to this nice town at the City Museum. The director opened the featured exhibit on the history of brick making saying the permanent rooms were damaged by the earthquake. 2 km southeast at the junction of the Sava and Kupa Rivers was the prominent 1550 Sisak Fortress. Although closed, we could walk around the 3 tower triangulation to appreciate its size and position along the Kupa. 7 km northeast was the 1981 46’ Sisak People's Liberation Monument sitting tall and alone among the trees far back in the lonely Park Brezovica. 4.0Mirko Jelin(1 review) - Riding from the south I thought I was expecting a big ship canal! Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
Apparently this concrete ship 'folly', built many miles from the sea, used to be a disco or similar. Ten years ago it was a complete wreck but clearly someone, dedicated and perhaps a little eccentric, loves this building and is restoring it. Over the years I have seen it change from a burned out mess, perhaps a casualty of former troubled times, to something that can be admired. It looks very nice from the road and it certainly puts a smile on my face when I pass. Perhaps one day it will be restored sufficiently to be open again others will continue to post pictures of its development.See more..
