A breathtaking drive
One of Austria's top 3 destinations amidst the Alps The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is like an ornament of ribbons located between green mountain pastures, colourful flower meadows, rocky rubble, ice and show. It nestles up against hills, follows the course of the natural ground and fits the mountains like a glove. Whooshing waterfalls, the shrill whistling of marmots and the howling wind in the summit regions create an unforgettable high alpine soundscape. And then, all of a sudden, he appears: his majesty, the Grossglockner, the black mountain. Join us for a journey beyond compare up high to the perpetual ice of the glacier!

Amazing Curves
A boys' dream to driving curves up to the top of the alps, one of the very best and astonishing views of all times, it is definitely worth it to pay a visit and to drive a fancy car up there. I only got the S350L Mercedes, with a heavy tail, and not 4 Matic, therefore it was only half the fun in fact. However, loads of bikes, bicycles and normal runners on the road, you gotta be careful whole speeding up. Don't you forget to take sun protection along, as well as sunglasses, strong ones.

A wonderful experience
Breathtaking is the only words that can be used to describe this pass. On my husbands to do list for several years he wasn't disappointed. The road is easy to drive, despite the hairpin bends and there are several stopping and sightseeing points along the way. Bear in mind that whilst better to start the journey really early to avoid the crowds, few cafes open before 9am. A must is the detour to Edelweiss Spitz and Kaiser Franz-Josefs- Hohe where you can look down on the Pasterze glacier. Awesome. We went there and back in one day, an easy do, but much busier later in the day. However, the driving standards on this pass compared to other 'famous' passes was excellent.
