  1. 5.0 San Saba Olive Oil Company (24 reviews)
    - If you love to cook....you must visit!

San Saba Olive Oil Company image
Not the type of store you'd expect to find in a small Hill Country town but San Saba Olive Oil Company is a true jewel for someone who loves to cook. Superb selection of outstanding olive oils and balsamic vinegars as well as teas and specialty items. Flavors infused into the olive oils and vinegars are so delicious....you just have to try several of each. My personal favorites are the Tomato, Garlic and Parmesan as well as the Smoky Chipotle olive oils and the Pecan Praline balsamic vinegar. Owner and staff are very knowledgable and helpful. Lots of good advice. The San Saba Olive Oil Company is within a block of the Wedding Oak Winery, J.C. Campbell Mercantile and Harry's Department Store.....all great places to visit. See more..

VERY good selection of boots, hats, clothing, etc. Very nice employees, too. It's a big store - almost like 3 or 4 connected stores. See more..
  3. 4.5 Wedding Oak Winery (84 reviews)
    - Great Staff, Even Better Wine
    Sunday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
    Wedding Oak Winery image
Started here for a top of the hill, roll out the barrels wine tasting tour. Did not know we had to purchase tickets online. My bad. Chance for customer service persons to shine. Heidi did just that, superstar. Let us use computer and even print off ticket, took a few minutes, and we were tasting wine in no time. Forgot other staffs name that assisted us. I was visiting wineries with my wife as it was our first anniversary, this was the only place all weekend that did anything, free glass of wine. Kuddos the them. The owner or winemaker was there and was top class and very personable. Best staff in Hill Country, worth the drive out of Fredericksburg. See more..
  4. 4.5 The Regency Suspension Bridge (57 reviews)
    - Well worth the drive to be able to walk across this 1939 suspension bridge

    The Regency Suspension Bridge image
Everyone who watches Texas Country Reporter (as we regularly do) will enjoy walking across the bridge used for the show's opening. We approved from the north of San Saba and had to drive a few miles on a caliche road in order to reach the bridge, but the road was not bad at all (we were expecting lots of loose gravel, but that was not the case). Because of structural issues, the bridge has been closed to traffic but it is open for walking (we were there in mid-December). If you are near Gatesville or San Saba, it is worth the drive to experience this 1939 suspension bridge, one of the last of its kind in Texas. See more..
  5. 4.5 Mill Pond Park (43 reviews)
    - Just what a city park should be like!
    Spent 1-2 hours Parks
    Mill Pond Park image
Located just a stone's throw from the county courthouse on the town square, this is a very nice park. We were there in December when it was set up for the Christmas lights. What a beautiful place. It is easy to imagine the community gathering here in the summer to cool off in the pond, which has a nice little beach. The water mill and pump house, the water fall, the walking path and grounds all come together to created a wonderful public space. Loved it! See more..
  6. 4.5 San Saba River Nature Park (28 reviews)
    - Small town asset
    Nature & Wildlife Areas

We stopped first across the road at the Mill pond park which is beautiful. This too is beautiful and has historic significance as the original water works. We spent about 45 minutes walking and didn't have time to cover all the paved trails. Nice public restroom and good parking. Some picnic tables but more importantly a great walking trail. See more..

  8. 4.5 JC Campbell & Co. Mercantile (10 reviews)
    - Gifts, antiques & clothing in a beautifully restored building
    Speciality & Gift Shops
JC Campbell & Co. Mercantile image
Stepping inside J.C. Campbell & Co. Mercantile is like stepping back in time. The restoration work in this early 1900s building is of the finest quality. Two stories of beautiful dark wood and iron complements a selection of goods ranging from eclectic clothing; fine chocolates and honey; antique furniture, pottery and glassware; jewelry and an assortment of gift items. While many of the items may be of greater appeal to women, the old-time craftsmanship and quality restoration of this handsome building will fascinate any man. Located close to the intersection of Wallace Street (Hwy 190) and Hwy 16, the store is close to other San Saba attractions like the Wedding Oak Winery, Harry's Department Store and the San Saba Olive Oil Company. Easy parking available in the back and a short walk to any of the above-mentioned stores. See more..

The entrance to San Saba River Pecan Company is through the groves, and it’s just gorgeous. The shop is great and the staff super friendly and knowledgeable. 12. 4.0 Beveridge Bridge (20 reviews)
    - A beautiful old (1896) bridge, but don't plan to walk across
    Spent < 1 hour Bridges
    Beveridge Bridge image
Visited in late December 2020. We had just come from the Regency Bridge where we were able to walk across, and we were expecting to walk across this smaller (but older) bridge too. The 140' bridge spans the San Saba River. It was recently closed and blocked even for foot traffic. But still, if you like to see old bridges, you will want to see this one, which is located just a couple of miles northwest of town. There is plenty of space to park. See more..

  14. 4.0 Wedding Oak Tree (10 reviews)
    - Beautiful...
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Wedding Oak Tree image
I know it’s just a tree, but we love history and historical things. If that’s what you love, you definitely need to visit the Wedding Oak. It’s absolutely majestic. The branches are as large as a regular tree trunk, and have grown into each other and out again. It’s right at the edge of the right of way for the road, with the marker being inside the field next to it. They have had to cut branches off, to keep the roadway safe, but many new branches are growing from the cut places. It’s a beautiful, beautiful oak. See more..
  15. 4.0 Risien Park (8 reviews)
    - This park looked like a great complement to the nature park
Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
    Risien Park image
While the San Saba River Nature Park has nice paved walking trails and historical information, this park (which connects to SSRNP) has the same look, but doesn't really have walking trails, but does have lots of family things to do like wide open grassy areas, picnic tables and a playground. Both are close to the river. See more..
