If you love to cook....you must visit!

Not the type of store you'd expect to find in a small Hill Country town but San Saba Olive Oil Company is a true jewel for someone who loves to cook. Superb selection of outstanding olive oils and balsamic vinegars as well as teas and specialty items. Flavors infused into the olive oils and vinegars are so delicious....you just have to try several of each. My personal favorites are the Tomato, Garlic and Parmesan as well as the Smoky Chipotle olive oils and the Pecan Praline balsamic vinegar. Owner and staff are very knowledgable and helpful. Lots of good advice. The San Saba Olive Oil Company is within a block of the Wedding Oak Winery, J.C. Campbell Mercantile and Harry's Department Store.....all great places to visit.

Good quality products, but not local.
Unlike a lot of other Texas olive oil stores, the olive oils and vinegars they sell here are made elsewhere. Nor is the owner very well versed on her products. When I asked if the oils were cold pressed, she had no idea. I didn't push for first cold pressed. When she said that the olives were from Spain, Greece, and Italy, I made the assumption that, in that case, they probably were not first cold pressed. That being said, we tasted several of the oils and several of the balsamic vinegars and found them to be quite good. They do have an oil that is labeled as Spanish and has a very good flavor. I hadn't intended to buy any vinegars but some were so outstanding I couldn't resist. The chocolate vinegar tastes like chocolate syrup. We have been eating it on vanilla ice cream. The brown fig was a big surprise. We eat this on anything you would put syrup on; the pecan praline too. The garlic cilantro is fabulous on meat. The sell two sizes of all the oils and vinegars, large for $18 and small for $8. There are other gourmet products too. I was surprised to find such a high quality store in such a small town. I recommend to store if you are going through San Saba.

Interesting flavored olive oils and Balsamic Vinegar
This shop has about 15 flavoured olive oils and 10 flavored Balsamic vinegars. These are interesting and nicely made and provide a good reason to visit and taste. They only had one plain EVOO which is from Spain and is relatively neutral - almost certainly the oil used in their flavored oils. I also only saw one straight Balsamic which is very good. We found the straight products more appealing than the flavored ones but that was us. Recommended for cooks and foodies!
