San Saba River Nature Park, Texas, United States
4.5 (28 reviews) Spent Ranking #5 in San Saba Nature & Wildlife Areas
Small town asset
We stopped first across the road at the Mill pond park which is beautiful. This too is beautiful and has historic significance as the original water works. We spent about 45 minutes walking and didn't have time to cover all the paved trails. Nice public restroom and good parking. Some picnic tables but more importantly a great walking trail.

Excellent for a short and scenic hike and a great history of San Saba.
This small but beautiful park is worth at least 30 minutes of your time while passing through San Saba. Just east of downtown San Saba, the park has clean restrooms and very good interpretive trails on the flora/fauna. It connects to the next door Riesien park which is also worth a stop to take in the San Saba river.

Worth the Walk
If you are headed south out of town...take the time to walk the San Saba River Nature Park. This is one of the most thoughtful approaches to discovering what the natural surroundings give a community and using it properly. A combination history lesson, bird watching, river walking, and cool shade, we walked over 2 miles of paths and saw deer and cardinals. Even in the heat of the summer, we felt relaxed and happy we pulled over to see it.
