Things to do & places to visit in Clearwater, Florida, United States

Clearwater cover image
Home to some of the best beaches in America, Clearwater is a great family beach destination. Sure, it’s in Florida, but it’s not Giant Rodent Florida (a.k.a. Orlando) or Crazy Spring Break Florida (a.k.a. Fort Lauderdale). Rather, it’s Calm, Old-Fashioned Florida… which is something worth seeing. Oh, and the weather’s outstanding.

Bring your own chairs/umbrellas, or you can pay $35 for the day for rental. If you do rent, note that they shut down at 6, which can be a problem if you want to stay later. 9. 4.5 Spectrum Field (873 reviews)
    - First Spring Training Game
Saturday: Spent 2-3 hours Arenas & Stadiums
    Spectrum Field image
I bought tickets to the Phillies/Red Sox game for my husbands birthday. Got some lawn tickets thinking it'd be great to sit on the lawn and watch baseball. I was very wrong. It was so crowded on the lawn that we couldn't find a spot to sit, let alone spread out a towel. Oh well. Luckily there were plenty of good places to watch the game. Also had lots of regional beer choices which was cool. I highly recommend that if you are a baseball fan then getting to spring training at least once is a must. See more..

  12. 4.5 Clearwater Beach Visitor Information Center (171 reviews)
    - Excellent Visitor Info Center
Saturday: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM Visitor Centers
Clearwater Beach Visitor Information Center image
Clearwater Beach Visitor Information Center can successfully compete with many info centers alike on many aspects. First of all, its location is totally perfect: it is right near the Clearwater Beach, Pier 60 and Pier 60 Park (a very nice and spacious park!), close to all hotels, restaurants, shops and other businesses in the area, close to the public transportation stops, to the ever exciting marina, and to the Clearwater Memorial Causeway. Most of all, despite its visibly tiny dimensions, this visitor information center is an invaluable source of useful info on all-things-useful-practical-and-fun in Clearwater and actually, on many other sites in different towns and cities of Central Florida. They have tons of free printed brochures, magazines and various types of maps in this center. And the main thing is their superb service: it is friendly, personable and very helpful. See more..
  13. 4.5 Big Storm Brewing Company (121 reviews)
    - Lively Place
Saturday: 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Breweries
    Big Storm Brewing Company image
The Big Storm Brewing Company was packed on a Saturday evening with a band outside and during their Octoberfest celebration. Because of that they only had a limited German menu which turned out to be a plus and a minus. You had to purchase a food ticket and take it to the tent to get your food. Seems like a lot of breweries we went to were during this same kind of food operation. My wife like her pork schnitzel and potato salad, but my pretzel, though huge was cold and so overloaded with salt that you could only see the color white on top. My unique Key Lime wheat was very good and my wife liked her Hefeweizen. They had quite a few beer options and they even make their own spirits. The band playing was pretty good and set a nice lively atmosphere. Though crowded, service was decent. See more..

  18. 4.5 Clearwater Beach Marina (47 reviews)
    - Lunch at Marina
    Marinas
    Clearwater Beach Marina image
And it was fun! Because it was the lunch for pelicans and egrets, who couldn't have to wait for some fresh fish from local boats and fishermen bringing it to the marina and 'to the table'. I just happened to be nearby, and took some photos. Observing these birds and their behavior, I couldn't help thinking, that sometimes they are just like human beings. Or maybe, sometimes we are like birds? Anyway, it was another great visit to the area and Clearwater Beach Marina, that just several weeks ago was as busy as ever. All kinds of boats, restaurants, souvenir shops, rental businesses. And tourists everywhere ... It's a very nice, bustling place to spend some time, and it's just across from the Clearwater Beach and Pier 60. See more..
  19. 4.5 Oddities & Antiques (27 reviews)
    - This place is a lot like a museum with a great curator, but not for the faint-hearted
Saturday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries • Antique Shops • Flea & Street Markets
    Oddities & Antiques image
I love going to this place. It is chalk full of odd items including taxidermy animals, medical specimens, antique medical equipment, pictures, post cards, odd and vintage clothing, and really fun signs for those who appreciate an odd sense of humor. Several parking spaces are marked with body out outlines and you immediately notice several headless dolls and doll-less heads! The guy that owns the place is friendly and interesting. If you like a lot of oddities and some good old-fashioned creepiness - GO HERE! See more..

  26. 4.0 Ruth Eckerd Hall (527 reviews)
    - Odd seating layout
    Theaters
    Ruth Eckerd Hall image
Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name. See more..
