Bay Park On Sand Key, Florida, United States

4.0 (35 reviews) Spent Ranking #22 in Clearwater Parks

Great day at the beach with the family!

We have always loved Sand Key Beach. It used to be pretty empty, but now the secret is out. They had lifeguards at this beach. Only a few bucks to park for the day. People obeyed the covid19 rules and left space between families on the beach and in the water.

Many of the reviews are for a DIFFERENT PARK on Sand Key
Unfortunately, several of the other reviews for Bay Park on Sand Key are actually reviews for a totally DIFFERENT PARK about 1.2 miles north of this one. That one is Sand Key Park and it is directly on the Gulf beach with covered picnic shelters, ample trails, bathrooms, playground, and paid parking ($5 flat fee for the day). It is maintained by Pinellas County and is very nice; I highly recommend it for a day at the beach. This park, Bay Park on Sand Key, is maintained by the City of Clearwater. It is NOT right on the beach, rather you have to cross the often very busy Gulf Boulevard and take a beach access walkway past condos to get out to the beach (you CAN'T see the beach from this park). Bay Park is VERY small, with only two tennis courts, which are very well maintained, a single rope-based jungle gym contraption for kids, a few benches, a very short walking path, and parking. That’s it, you can walk the entire length of it in about 2 minutes. However, if you want to use free parking while you are at the beach, this is a good bet even though the beach access isn’t that convenient. Personally, for a day at the beach, I would spend the $5 parking fee and go to the much larger Sand Key Park with far more amenities.
