Captain Phil Collins was very accommodating for our short notice request for taxi service to Atsena Otie Key. He took us out, provided some great information about what to see on the Key and picked us up within 15 minutes of our call to him for an early pick up. I would highly recommend Tidewater Tours on Cedar Key to anyone wishing to tour the islands at Cedar Key.See more..

4.5Cemetery Point Park(136 reviews) - Nice unexpected place for a park Spent 1-2 hours Cemeteries
We heard about this park so we decided to check it out. I was surprised to see so many activities around a cemetery to be honest. It was a beautiful place! The trails were great and the outdoor fitness equipment was a pleasant surprise. I love the artsy and laid-back vibes of this island. A walk thru the cemetery was very interesting to see all the various dates going back to the 1800s. It even had some good fishing spots. I can see where this would be a favorite among locals.See more..
This trail was pleasant. The history is fascinating. It is hard to believe that from 1861-1932, this was the site of actively traveled train tracks. Now, it offers a sweet, shaded sanctuary. Our experience in February, was that it was highly maintained (I mention this because I read other reviews that express poor trail maintenance). If one is interested in the flora, they will be pleased; the signs along the way were informative. Benches are placed throughout if needed. It was surprising that during our hal hour on the trail, we passed five others. It is nice to know that others are enjoying this trail, too!See more..
4.0Shell Mound County Park(67 reviews) - Great place to spend an afternoon! Parks • Hiking Trails
What lovely boardwalks, and trails that meander through marshes and woods! There was plenty of signage sharing information about the history and eco-system. It was delightful to be among the Spanish Moss, and the Palms We took two short trails; both were loops. One was around the burial sites and the other was on the Dennis Creek Trail. We walked about 1.5 miles. The scenery continuously changes, the trails are maintained and on a weekday in February, it was not crowded at all!See more..
I have always been a fan of co-ops! It was fulfilling to shop at a store, where the artists themselves are truly invested in this co-op. The offerings were terrific. The shopping experience was almost as if we were in a gallery, viewing beautiful art. It was lovely to appreciate the wooden boxes and carvings, jewelry, paintings, prints, cards and pottery. Yes! We managed to walk out of there with a couple of bagfuls, both for our home and as gifts. Here, here for supporting artists!See more..
4.5Southern Cross Sea Farms(55 reviews) - Wow ! The clams and oysters were out of this world. Flea & Street Markets
The clams and oysters were outstanding ! We wheeled our cooler in and they filled it up and packed them with ice. The oysters and clams were probably the best I have ever had. The salt content in the oysters was second to none. Stop and load up when you leave Cedar Key, you won't regret it.See more..

I am thankful for this memorial. Stopping there and taking a pause to read and reflect motivated me to learn more about the massacre. I did so on my return home. What a horrific time in our history. It is important that people are aware of this. Like the Holocaust, "never again" resonates clearly.See more..
