Site of the Rosewood Massacre Memorial, Florida, United States

Visiting is a duty and an honor

I am thankful for this memorial. Stopping there and taking a pause to read and reflect motivated me to learn more about the massacre. I did so on my return home. What a horrific time in our history. It is important that people are aware of this. Like the Holocaust, "never again" resonates clearly.

    Important Historic Stop
We did not remember ever hearing anything about this event and it is very important to know. We were glad we stopped to read the plaque.

    This Memorial needs an Improvement
This was a tragic and historic event in American history but it does not seem to be noted with significance. You could drive right by and never know that Rosewood once stood as a community. I cannot speak for the people who died nor for the displaced families. In my humble opinion, the landmark for this site should be better than just a wooden sign (a small park, a small museum, or maybe a small monument is more honorable). The respect and acknowledgement level here should be greater.
