  1. 5.0 Wat Nakta Luang (1 review)
    - Ancient temple with many paintings.

The (about) 200 years old charming temple is simultaneously a sacred place and an art gallery. The highlight is an outstanding 164 years old Lanna style (with a mixture of Chinese decoration) main hall. There are a lot of paintings (both antique and new) that represent local life in the old days or some stories in Tipitaka spread around the area. Visitor can also take a stroll on a weave bamboo bridge across the grass field and absorb a rural atmosphere. See more..

Doi Khun Tan National Park image
I did a day trip from Chiang Mai today to the summit of Khun Tan. It Is a great escape from the city. I caught the 8:50 train from Chiang Mai, and got up to the visitor center by about 10. The total hike me about five hours, and that was including the looploop to the waterfall. The hike up it was fantastic, I did it on my own and had no concerns and the view at the top is spectacular. The loop to the waterfall wasn’t worth it in my opinion, at this time of year the water wasn’t running very fast and it’s a lot of extra uphill and downhill. Overall it was a fantastic day from the city, I got the 18:20 train back to Chiang Mai and was back to my hostel by 8 PM See more..

After parking our vehicle, we spent the next 40 minutes sight-seeing the beautiful temple. This Lanna style temple has many wonderful decorations, whether it be Naga stairs, arched entrance, bas reliefs, or an elegant Japanese style Buddha statue (it was not complete at the time when we visited, what a pity). Visitor can also enjoy watching a panorama view of grassy landscape of Mae Tha. Moreover, there is a coffee shop to relax and have some drinks or buy some souvenirs. Don't miss this place ! The White Bridge image
About halfway from Chiang Mai to Lampang, the White Bridge is a two-span concrete railway bridge, a hundred years old, over a small stream a little north of the Khuntan Tunnel. By road it’s about 18 km east of the turnoff from the Route 11 highway. The gleaming white bridge lies in a scenic valley backed by mountains, next to a small, quiet village, with a golf course on the other side of the stream. Beside the bridge a cluster of bamboo restaurants and coffee shops stands on the bank. Besides a short walk for the view and riverside refreshments, the prime activity is to witness one of the several trains that whizz across the bridge each day. A sign next to one of the restaurants and another one by the railway tracks announce the scheduled times for this event. See more..
