  1. 5.0 Kanokmanee House Museum (1 review)
    - Museum + Awesome local sweet.
    Monday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums
    Kanokmanee House Museum image
The private museum is an almost 100 year old, 2 storey, half concrete & half wood Thai style house of Phraya Atthayasaiwisoot, the 11th governor of Uttaradit. It collects ancient artifacts, old furnitures, and the handwriting letter of king Rama V. However, highlight is "Kanom Tian Savoey" made fresh daily at the lower floor of the house. This damn delicious local sweet is a dough glutinous rice flour with honey, brown sugar, and coconut milk covered by roasted white sesame wrapped in banana leave. It was created 60 years ago by daughter of Phraya Atthayasaiwisoot and was once served to Queen Elizabeth II. Its smell and taste was fantastic. Highly recommend. Don't miss this. Truly delicious ! Small package contains 15 sweets = 60 baht, and big package contains 30 sweets = 120 baht. P.S. The place is in the alley 100 m apart from the main road. See more..
  2. 5.0 Friday Department Store (1 review)
    - The first department store of Uttaradit.
    Monday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Department Stores
    Friday Department Store image
The 30 year old centrally located local department store is on the first floor and the second floor of Friday building (while the higher floors belong to Friday hotel of the same owner). It is the first department store of Uttaradit. Here, we bought some souvenirs and bakery products. There was also a mini market on the space in front of its entrance. Lovely. See more..
  3. 5.0 Laplae City Arch (1 review)
    - Significant landmark.
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Laplae City Arch image
This remarkable gorgeous yellow city gate is an entrance to Laplae District. Many travellers parked their vehicles and took some photos of the gate before entered the town (so did we). Around the place, there is a grass field with few Thai style wooden houses (museum) that simulate local daily life in the past and provide some historical facts of the town. Also, there is a white sculpture that portray the legend of Laplae town. Legend : Laplae is a mysterious secluded town hidden from the rest of the world. All population are female. Lying is strictly forbidden in the town. Anyone who tells a lie, even very slightest, will be expelled from the town. Very interesting town. See more..
  4. 4.5 Praya Phichai Dap Hak Memorial (26 reviews)
    - Monument of the great warrior.
Points of Interest & Landmarks • History Museums
Praya Phichai Dap Hak Memorial image
The monument is located in front of Uttaradit city hall. Here, the bravery, patriotism, and loyalty of Phraya Pichai, a ruler of Pichai town in the past, will be memorized forever. He is not only a hero but also a symbol of Uttaradit. During Burmese invasion of Pichai town in 1773, Phraya Pichai grabbed his swords to fight Burmese army. He beat and repelled invaders but one of the swords (in his right hand) was broken as can be seen from the monument. We arrived at the monument at 7:30 p.m. and did some worship before entered to the city. See more..
  5. 4.5 Sirikit Dam (23 reviews)
    - Thailand's biggest earthen dam.
    Dams
    Sirikit Dam image
Named after the former Thai queen, the dam is considered the biggest earthen dam of Thailand. Highlights include the view point on the dam crest and the yellow-blue hanging bridge across Nan river. From the dam crest, there is a nice scenery of an ample placid lake with green mountains background. Recommend to visit in the morning or in the evening to avoid heat of the midday. See more..
  6. 4.5 Phu Soi Dao National Park (16 reviews)
    - Beautiful and Cool
Spent More than 3 hours National Parks
Phu Soi Dao National Park image
This is a lovely quiet place to spend a few days. I nice hiking trail to the top of the mountain. A lovely waterfall. Lots of beautiful and great big trees in the forest. If you stay at the Bungalows the staff are very friendly but there is only one restaurant. The prices are high the quantity and quality that you get. But at least you get it with a smile. See more..
  7. 4.5 Po Massage (13 reviews)
    - Traditional Foot Massage
Spent 1-2 hours Yoga & Pilates
    Po Massage image
Great traditional foot massage for 400 baht, 90 minutes. My usual tip to the massage lady is 100 baht, but it's up to individual. Add a foot scrub if you wish. Their foot scrub is good too. #19 can speak Mandarin and she's also very good in massaging my tired feet. I have been coming here weekly to get my foot massage and my gout problem has improved. Though I'm not sure if it's related. Up to individual I guess. See more..
  8. 4.5 Wat Phra Thaen Sila At (11 reviews)
    - Famous temple of Uttaradit.
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
Wat Phra Thaen Sila At image
Highlight of this beautiful temple is an ancient laterite rectangular sermon platform, assumed to be built during Sukhothai period. Its base is decorated with lotus petal pattern. The legend claims that the Buddha, as a Bodhivasatta, once visited and accumulated his merit here, leading to the construction of the sermon platform. At the time when we visited, we also participated in the cultural activity, building a sand pagoda in Songkran festival, held in the temple. Very fun. See more..
  9. 4.5 Wat Phra Boromathat Tung Yang (10 reviews)
    - Ancient temple in Uttaradit.
Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites
Wat Phra Boromathat Tung Yang image
The approximately 700 year old temple is named after the pre-Sukhothai ancient city "Thung Yang" where it is located. The temple was tranquil. After we had worshipped the principal Buddha image, we walked to the golden pagoda behind the main hall to worship Buddha relics. Some locals do believe that this region is the hometown of Miss Rojana, a female protagonist in Thai folktale "Sang Thong" (The Prince of the Golden Conch Shell). See more..

    - Monument at the centre of the town.
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Phra Si Phanommat Memorial image
This is a monument of Phra Si Phanommat, Thai-Chinese former Laplae's governor in the reign of king Rama V. His performance in developing the town was remarkable which earns him a lot of respect from locals. The monument is in front of the morning market right at the heart of Laplae district. It is a good check-in point and also a nice spot to take some photos. See more..

  14. 4.0 Sak Yai Forest Park (8 reviews)
    - The biggest teak tree of the world.
    Parks • Forests
    Sak Yai Forest Park image
The national park is abundant with trees. Highlight of this place is certainly a more than 1000 year old giant teak tree. With 38.5 metres in height (its previous height before the storm broke its top part in 1977 was 47.8 m) and 10.2 metres in circumference, it is considered the largest teak tree in the world. There is a wooden bridge that surround the tree. Visitor is not allowed to go beyond the bridge to prevent the tree. Nice place to relax and get a fresh air. See more..
  15. 4.0 Mae Phun Waterfall (6 reviews)
    - Nice hidden Waterfall
    Waterfalls
    Mae Phun Waterfall image
A place to be if you want to relax and also have a swim. The place is not easy to find and is also not shown on google map. You have to drive to Laplae and ask the locals to find it. It is a peaceful place and of course their are many restaurants to have something to eat or drink. See more..
  16. 4.0 Bo Lek Nam Phi (5 reviews)
    - Ancient mine
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Bo Lek Nam Phi image
Before deciding to visit, it is important to set expectations at the right level. This place is interesting for a history buff but doesn’t provide the information on mining techniques and technologies that I had expected. This is not a mine with mine shafts like in Kanchanaburi. It is not a mine from the 1800s or 1900s as most other Thai mines. This is a location where mining took place around 400-600 years ago. These are basically small pits (bor roughly translates into well or source) dug to extract iron ore. Accessible to the public areonly the two most famous pits where ore was reserved for kings. There is a large large with simple displays along one side and a shrine at the far end. As noted by another reviewer, the road signs are misleading so use your smartphone map application to avoid detours. See more..
  17. 4.0 Wat Phra Borom That Thung Yang (2 reviews)
    - Temple combining Lanna and Ceylon architecture
    Speciality & Gift Shops
Wat Phra Borom That Thung Yang image
Since I was born and grew up in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), I had to visit this temple in the town of Uttaradit. The temple itself is built in the Lanna-style, but behind it is a bell-shaped Stupa that is considered to be of Ceylon-style. The temple apparently has fragments of old murals but I didn't know about them or notice them at that time. I will go back there someday to check-out those murals. See more..

  19. 3.5 TT Garden (6 reviews)
    - TTGarden lover
Spent < 1 hour Shopping Malls
    TT Garden image
TTGarden is a new shopping mall in the core of Uttaradit where you can find a number of shops and restaurants. It was opened a couple of years ago and we visit it regularly. First, there's my favourite place, the yoga studio. Discipline lovers should really have a go, the instructors are professional and train you well. Second, the TTgarden shop offers a variety of food (some western such pasta, Parmesan, tomato sauce) and a good selection of frozen ones. There's also BitterSweet Cafe, to enjoy a nice cappuccino and piece of cake. The Living Room is an above average restaurant, Thai cuisine and some western. WakoWako BBQ is the place where you have fun with bbq, fish and meat are fresh and available.A Kasikorn branch and 7/11 are present. Finally, Daiso is the gadget shop, a temptation because I always find something to buy, can't resist bathroom bottle sets or fancy kitchen tools! So.. welcome to TTgarden! See more..
  20. 3.5 Wat Yai Tha Sao (5 reviews)
    - Beautiful Country Wat
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Wat Yai Tha Sao image
The main season to come to this wat is to see the Buddhist scripture library. Although it is diminutive in size, it is a real beauty. Set atop a dense cluster of pillars, all with lotus-bud capitals, it exemplifies a timber library from a rural community. Especially fine is the two-tiered roof, the roof ornaments and the lintels with their glass mosaic work in the form of kalas (a kind of demon.) The vihaan is also quite attractive, as is the large, wooden pavilion (sala) at the front of the complex. Entrance is free. See more..
