   According to Lonely Planet, "across Mae Nam Ping (river) are the ruins of Wat Phra Borommathat"... so I arrived with the expectation to see ruins similar to those in Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park. The first thing I saw when I arrived was a huge shiny gold chedi. I tried to walk around the compound, even to the river bank, to find ruins but I didn't find any. So I guessed the the huge chedi was the "ruin" that Lonely Planet talked about. The huge chedi is very impressive, and there are small shrines and shops around the clean modern compound. This is a good place to experience local life as I saw locals coming to pay respects but no tourists. (I was probably the only tourist around.) The Wat is close to the bus station, on the opposite side of the river from the walled city. See more..

   We stumbled upon this resort while on an extended road trip exploring Thailand. The hot springs are awesome, clean & free of any hint of sulphur that sometimes comes with hot springs. They have public pools and private spa rooms with a pool that can easily hold 8 people. The cottages were clean and modern, set next to ponds of varying degrees of hot spring.     Auf dem Weg von Kampheang Phet nach Sukothai können Tempelinteressierte hier kurz Station machen. Der Tempel liegt kurz vor Phran Kratai auf einem kleinen Hügel. Am Eingang eine hübsche Gebetshalle mit einem Ganesh davor. Dann führt eine von Schlangen begrenzte Treppe zum Hügel und einem kleinen Buddha. Der Tempel ist etwas schmutzig, offenbar leben hier wenig Mönche, sodass wenig Geld fliesst und er etwas außerhalb von Phran Kratai liegt! See more..

    Hier fährt man auf dem Weg nach Sukhothai sicher leicht vorbei, doch lohnt sich ein kurzer Stopp, erst recht, wenn man Kinder mit hat. Viele Tierstatuen,zwei schöne liegende Buddhas , verehrungswürdige Mönche und sogar eine versilberte, historische Fahrradrikscha !
