- 5.0 DaiDib DaiDee Permaculture Thailand (7 reviews)
-Amazing Experience
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Climbing Tours • Eco Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours
I would 100% come here if you are looking to dive into another culture. Bird is such a great host and really fun to be around. I volunteered on his farm and through working on his land and learning about farming and permaculture, I felt such peace being there. If you are looking for beautiful scenery and looking to explore Thailand's countryside, COME HERE. See more..
- 5.0 Wat Si Mongkhon (Wat Kong) (4 reviews)
-Piety - and fun too
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts • Religious Sites
We really enjoyed the visit to this monastery. There's a lot to see apart from the fine Buddha statue in the ordination hall. In the spacious grounds you can play at see saw made from old wagon wheels, sit on wooden carved motor scooters, admire life size black elephants (and an ancient cannon) and visit the museum on two floors where, apart from finding ancient radio sets and Walkmans are a particularly fine Buddha statue, a goddess of mercy and a life like waxwork monk. Lots of photo opportunities and grownups and children will love the place . I recommend 1 - 2 hours. You can also buy reasonably priced refreshments. See more..
- 4.5 Wat Phumin (411 reviews)
-Stunning
Religious Sites
It was worth the drive from Chiang Mai just to see the frescoes in this temple - which include the famous one showing two lovers - the man whispering sweet nothings to his girl. I attach a photo of one of the less famous wall paintings but giving a good idea of the local art style. The is a sculpture of the couple at the main entrance to to temple and a favourite photo spot for visitors. See more..
- 4.5 Wat Phrathat Chae Haeng (181 reviews)
-The rabbit temple
Religious Sites
This was a our first temple in Nan and it did not disappoint. Like many of the other Nan temples it has spacious grounds for walking or relaxing - including food and souvenir shops. The temple itself is peaceful, with a huge statue of the Buddha in the main hall, In front of the stupa is the focus of peoples devotion - a fine rabbit with a small Buddha covered in the small squares of gold leaf stuck on by the faithful - so much in fact that the surrounding ground is full of these tiny sheets of real gold leaf. Don't miss the wonderful reclining Buddha either in this perfectly maintained temple See more..

-Elegant temple with city pillar shrine
Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites
This is the first destination of our trip to Nan city. There are 2 main attractions (temple hall and city pillar shrine) in the place. Both of them are Lanna style white structures embellished with many spectacular detailed stucco (similar to the famous Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai). Although the place is not very large, it is worth a visit because it is very beautiful. P.S. Don't forget to by "Khao Lam" (sticky rice soaked in coconut milk and baked in a bamboo cylinder) near the temple. Yummy ! See more..
- 4.5 Wat Sri Panton Temple (78 reviews)
-Gorgeous golden temple.
Religious Sites
The outstanding shiny golden temple looks fabulous. It is embellished with many beautiful relief sculptures (exterior) and colorful murals (interior). What I like most is remarkable golden statues of a pair of seven head Nagas at the entrance of the hall. See more..
- 4.5 Doi Samer Dao (69 reviews)
-Where to touch the sky and star
Spent 1-2 hours Mountains • National Parks
Doi Samer-Dao in Thai words it means "Mountain in the same level of stars" It's top point of Srinan National Park in Nan. It's far from Nan city around 80 km and take around 1.5 hour to drive here. On top of mountain you can 360 degree panoramic view of Nan mountain. This place can stay overnight by camping (contact national park office first) but bring food and water by yourself. If the sky clear enough in the night we can see milky way clearly on the sky. Best time to visit is in winter (Nov-Jan). See more..
- 4.5 Nan Riverside Arts Space (formerly called: Nan Riverside Art Gallery) (61 reviews)
-Nan Riverside is an absolute gem
Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Art Galleries
One of the great joys of traveling around Thailand is discovering privately funded non-profit art galleries, and the Nan Riverside is an absolute gem. Both the gardens and the indoor spaces are delightful, and present you with a wonderful experience of the owner's selection of paintings, sculptures and landscape pieces. When traveling in this part of the country it is well worth a detour, and be sure to set aside an hour or two of your itinerary to soak up the experience of the art here. There is also a delightful gallery shop, and a cafe that looked great too, though we had already eaten lunch. Highly recommended, and we will definitely return when we are next in Nan Province See more..
- 4.5 Nan Noble House (58 reviews)
-Lanna noble house.
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The about 100 year old authentic Lanna style 2 storey teak house in a beautiful garden was once a residence of Chao Fongkham, a descendant of the former lord of Nan. It is now occupied by her descendants and becomes a well-preserved and worth visiting museum and learning space (entrance fee = 30 baht ; this place is less than 10 minutes driving from the city). Staffs were very nice. During our sightseeing inside the house, we dimly heard some traditional Lanna songs (made us really in the mood). Also, there was a Lanna weaving demonstration on the ground under the house. Recommend ! See more..
- 4.5 Wat Nong Bua (56 reviews)
-Excellent Temple
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
Very seldom that such a beautiful temple in a perfect surrounding and well loved by the local residences can be found. Wat Ban Nong Bua is such a temple. Located some distance from Nan toward the direction of Pua, this temple is hidden in the small town of Tha Wang Pha. The temple has a generous parking area in front of the temple. Before you enter the temple, you will hear local music being played by local musician to welcome you. The temple ground is well landscaped and maintain. The main temple wall has the similar paintings from the same era as Wat Ming Muang in Nan. Behind the temple, there is a small gift shop manned by locals that are anxious to meet visitors than simply to sell their merchandise. This is an excellent temple not to be missed. See more..
- 4.5 Doi Phu Kha National Park (46 reviews)
-Great Park to See the Champoo Phuka Flower.
National Parks
Champoo Phuka, the tree and its flower is becoming a rare and extinct tree. Presently, it can only be seen in Doi Phu Khao National Park in Nan Province. In order to see this rare flowers, we trekked through the jungle for about two hours in different elevations before reaching the blossoming flowers. We met at least 20-30 other curious local tourists who made the same trek. By coming to this national park in mid February, we were expecting more blooming flowers. However due to the late winter, the flowers are expected to bloom later. Fortunately we were able to witness few blossoming branches. Overall the Doi Phu Khao National Park is very well managed. The Visitor Center was very well prepared to assist the visitors. They prepared daily local guides to take the visitors around the park. The trial within the jungle was well prepared and kept up. Keep up with the good work. See more..

The Lanna style temple is on the hill. After worship "Luang Por Saen Pua" in a main hall, ones can walk to a viewpoint behind the hall to enjoy a panorama view of the rice field with mountainous background. Moreover, by walking downhill from the temple, there is a walking street where you can buy many foods/drinks/souvenirs or chill out at the cafe in the midst of the rice field. We also saw the process of making "Kalamae" (Thai sweet = caramelized sticky rice with coconut milk) and, of course, bought them (Very delicious ; don't forget to taste Tai Lue recipe Kalamae). Additionally, there were some live performances such as traditional music and traditional dance. Awesome ! See more..

-The #1 temple in Nan.
Points of Interest & Landmarks
What a pity that we didn't see an outstanding golden pagoda of the rabbit year (Chinese zodiac), since it was under renovation. However, we walked 3 times in clockwise direction around the pagoda to pay respect and worship Buddha relics inside. Also, don't forget to visit a 14 m reclining Buddha inside the hall in front of the temple. Last but not least, there is a community market that sells OTOP products, local clothes, foods, souvenirs. The approximately 250 year old temple was built by Tai Lue people evacuated from Xishuangbanna in southern China. Highlights included Tai Lue style old wooden hall decorated by many long rectangular Lanna flags (called "Tung") with principle Buddha image. Behind the Buddha images, there is an ancient mural. Also, don't forget to look for Lanna style antique wooden pulpits. Next, in a mini hall, there are Buddha images with (new) colorful paintings. Near the mini hall, there is a tiny zoo where ones can find peacocks. Moreover, by walking to the back of the temple, there is a monument of a Tai Lue king who built this temple on a green-tusk white elephant. See more..

- 4.5 Ban Pak Nai Fisherman Village (5 reviews)
-Rafting across the Sirikit Reservoir
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Don't know what the other reviews are doing here.....THIS is Pak Nai. Hwy 101 from Nan, then 1026 and 1339 will bring you to the end of the road here at Pak Nai Fishermans Village. The Nan River contributes to the Sirikit Reservoir and at this point for you to continue your journey to Na Haeo you need to catch a bamboo ferry, pulled by a small longtail which drags you maybe a kilometre across the lake to the road where you can continue your journey. The jetty is part of the floating village and with a series of large connected barges creates the local eatery and cold drinks. Here you ask about the ferry, the lady gets on the two-way and presto you are on your way. What a great experience on our trip.....and it was cheap. See more..

-Why Dik Diem tree didn't vibrate?
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
This temple is the first place we visited in 2022. After we had worshipped the principle Buddha image and also seen many colorful murals in the main hall, we moved to the highlight of the place, "Dik Diem tree". Our guide told us that this amazing tree bend away from the sun (Normally, a tree should bend toward the sun). Moreover, when ones caress its trunk gently, its branches and leaves will shake slightly without any wind as if it is tickled. We did it for almost 5 minutes, but the tree didn't move, not in the slightest!(why..y??). Then, we got a new year blessing from a kind monk in the morning of the first day of the year. See more..
