  7. 4.5 Pai Canyon (2.230 reviews)
    - Beautiful views, hazardous hike for littles
    Spent 1-2 hours Canyons
    Pai Canyon image
We arrived at Pai Canyon around 4 because we wanted to explore a bit before sunset. With our 6, 8, and 10 year old, some parts of the hike were too dangerous or steep, but there were plenty of paths and areas that we could explore as long as we held onto the little one's hands. It was a lovely view and great place to take some scenic photos with valley views on both sides. Just be really careful if you have the fearless type of children as they could easily have a terrible fall. It was too cloudy for a great sunset, so we might try again another day. See more..
  8. 4.5 The Land Split (709 reviews)
    - Much cooler than I exoecetd
This location was reported permanently closed Points of Interest & Landmarks
    The Land Split image
This is a great little spot. The Land Split itself is incredible - especially walking through it at the floor level. But the best part was the hospitality of the people who run the attraction- it’s a gratuity only thing, but they bring snacks and drinks and want you to have more. It was very welcoming and we were happy to leave a tip. See more..
  9. 4.5 Lod Cave (350 reviews)
    - Great Local Attraction
    Caverns & Caves
    Lod Cave image
We visited using a one-day pass for numerous attractions in the Pia district. The pass was 200 THB per adult and then some attractions charged extra for a guide and parking. We paid 210 THB for two adults to enter the cave with a guide on a bamboo raft, this included parking for a car (I think it was 50 THB for the car). You can purchase the pass at any of the attractions and do them in any order within one day. See more..
  10. 4.5 Pai Piranha Fishing Park (271 reviews)

    Pai Piranha Fishing Park image
Piranha Park is situated 5 minutes from Mhor Peng waterfall and only 10 minutes from the town of Pai. To find us follow the signs from the Hospital, staying on the same road for approximately 7km, it's very well sign posted all the way so you should have no problems. The fishing park consists of 2 ponds and a family run guesthouse all set in a peaceful mountain side location.Get away and escape for a while and enjoy the peace and quiet. We are open 10am to 7pm daily for fishing. Delicious home cooked western and Thai food and the world famous Lasagne...plus the best full English breakfast in Pai..Night fishing is permitted if you are staying at the park. 11. 4.5 Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu (261 reviews)
    - One of the best sunsets ever
    Religious Sites
Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu image
Go at 5pm when it’s cooler, take the walk - don’t be lazy - it’s excellent. The temple is fascinating as it holds the remains of Buddha’s chief disciple, but the views - oh the views... sun goes down at 6pm so get there before and just sit and watch. It might even make you cry See more..
  12. 4.5 Sutongpe Bridge (235 reviews)
    - Lovely Bamboo Bridge in Mae Hong Son City
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Bridges
    Sutongpe Bridge image
As a preface, there is really not much to do in Mae Hong Son in the low season, and this is one of the few attractions. That being said, it is a pretty bamboo bridge built by the locals recently to help the monks on a nearby temple cross the ride paddies to collect alms. As I understand it, its free, either that, or the person collecting fees was on leave that day. The bridge is around 400m long and leads to the temple on a hill, it crosses the rice paddies and overall paints a very pretty picture. I would recommend climbing the hill to the temple for a picturesque view of the surroundings, but please be respectful to the temple there. Not sure if slippers, short shorts/skirts are accepted there, as it was empty when we went. See more..
  13. 4.5 Boon Ko Ku So Bridge (198 reviews)
    - A must see ... breathtaking scenery
    Spent 1-2 hours Bridges
Boon Ko Ku So Bridge image
This was in my top 3 of the full day tour around Pai countryside. If I had been on a bike I would have done landslide first then onto here. We only had 40 minutes here and it was not enough. I could have spent a good hour and a half leisurely walking bridge stopping along it and taking in different views. The entrance fee was included in our tour price, There were farmers at work in the rice fields and cattle grazing around very noisily with their bells. There were workers working on the next part of the bridge which I could have sat and watched for longer too. Shame bridge wasn’t finished as would have liked to see forest temple but we would have needed more time given by our guide to do this. Friends at my hostel said there is a great food place and hammocks to chill out and take in the countryside or have a snooze. This would have made a perfect day trip on a bike and perhaps doing the landslide first before here with a lovely stroll, lunch and chill in hammocks. See more..
  14. 4.5 Moo Ban Rak Thai (Mae Aw) (175 reviews)
    - Peace n Tranquility
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
Moo Ban Rak Thai (Mae Aw) image
This is an extraordinary area to visit and relax some 40 kilometres from Mae Hong Song city in the Myanmar boarder area. It should be given a few days to enable its peace and tranquility to be fully absorbed. The available food offerings are principally Chinese but I would qualify it to be a fusion Chinese as it is not what I would say as being traditional Chinese fare. The dishes before me were more peppery, in a subtle way, not chilli hot, and were superb. This town to an absolute must should Mae Hong Song be on your programme See more..
  15. 4.5 Fluid Swimming Pool (149 reviews)
    - Great place for a swim
Monday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Sports Complexes
    Fluid Swimming Pool image
I came here 3 times this month while staying in Pai. It’s a short walk from town. I came late morning, mid afternoon and early morning. Each time it was relatively quiet and chilled out. I was able to swim laps easily and then hang out in the shade. It was excellent! See more..
  16. 4.5 Mae Yen Waterfalls (131 reviews)
    - Nice long return hike
    Waterfalls
    Mae Yen Waterfalls image
We took about 2 1/2 hours there and about 2 hours back. We had a little difficulty finding the “start point” on google maps but there are two options and we found one to start and the second on return. It’s a beautiful forest walk. You have to cross mainly ankle deep river about 20 times each way so be prepared for wet feet. There are times when you wonder briefly if you’ve missed a path or a river crossing but you soon pick it up. There are a few narrow bits and plenty of fallen trees to climb over. When you get to the sign saying 1 hour steep diversion because the other route is unsafe please note - it is steep for a short while but it is only 20 minutes to the waterfall and there is a beautiful cascading waterfall that you can swim in at the end. It’s blinking cold mind you! It’s about a total of a 10km each way hike. See more..
  17. 4.5 Mae Hong Son Mountain Wat (125 reviews)
    - beautiful views
    Mountains • Lookouts
Mae Hong Son Mountain Wat image
Nice views over the area, but visit in the morning, that is much less hot! The temple is good to visit See more..
  18. 4.5 Pang Ung (115 reviews)
    - Beautiful at sunrise
Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
    Pang Ung image
We visited pang oung in late january, the mornings are really cold (12 deg when we were there), so bring a jacket. The bamboo boats start at 7am and cost 150baht each for 30mins. Max 2 pax per boat, just pay them in cash. The boats are near the public carpark but if you are going into the national park it’s additional 200baht for foreigners and 20baht for locals. Would recommend to just take the boat and take pictures if you’re not keen to hike or camp inside the national park. See more..
  19. 4.5 Cave Lodge (54 reviews)

  20. 4.5 Mae Sariang (40 reviews)
    - Needs more time to see
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Mae Sariang image
First overnighter from Chiang Mai. We rode here as part of a 10 day journey by motorbike. Seemed like a quiet town based on our location on Hwy 108. Never saw another westerner. Strolled around a bit to find a restaurant...not much on the english spoken, but Chang means Chang everywhere. Next morning checked out the museum, Eakarak Hotel, the large Wat on opposite corner and the Phrathat Chom Thong, a short ride south of town high on the hill. Would need maybe 2 days here to take in the experience, my travel companions are not that adventurous. See more..
  21. 4.5 Pang Mapha Viewpoint (36 reviews)
    - Stay with Lahu Tribe
    Spent < 1 hour Lookouts
    Pang Mapha Viewpoint image
After a 3-hour ride from Chiang Mai, Pha Mon Lahu Village was my first stop. With my scooter, I was riding up a steep and narrow road to reach the village. People here are Lahu (Red Lahu or Mussur). This village was newly supported by government to be community-based tourist destination. Everything here was authentic and not set up. I stayed in a Lahu's house about 300 THB including breakfast. I'd suggest this place for those who look for an authentic and peaceful place. Don't forget to ask for a hard trek to Doi Suk Sabai (name of the mountain). You will see many strange plants and ferns. Village name: Baan Pha Mon, Pang Mapha. (Contact Ms. Parada) Note: No electricity (only solar cell power), Low network signal See more..
  22. 4.5 Ban Jabo (Black Lahu community) (27 reviews)
    - Great Place to view the Sea of Clouds
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
Ban Jabo (Black Lahu community) image
Location: Ban Jabo village / Ban Cha Bo Hill Noodle in Mae Hong Son, Northern Thailand. Located between Pai and Mae Hong Son city center. It is about 1 hr 20 min (55km) drive from Pai vía route 1095. There are few noodle houses /cafes along the road. We were there on 5 Jan 2020, Sunday afternoon in one of the noodle house. Having fun in the bamboo platform noodle house. And, we stopped by again on 7 Jan 2020, Tuesday early morning purposely for the view of the Sea of Clouds. We waited there start from around 5.50am for the Sunrise. It is really a great place to view the Sea of Clouds. Don’t miss it for your trip to Pai. Most of the shop close on Tuesday except a noodle house/cafe. Go there early, order your noodle & drinks, get a nice spot & wait for the beautiful view. You won’t regret to get up so early. See more..
  23. 4.5 Wat Hua Wiang Temple (23 reviews)
    - Temple Next to Local Market
    Religious Sites
    Wat Hua Wiang Temple image
I stopped by this temple after visiting the local market. It is just next to the market so you can actually combined that two. The temple "wooden pagoda" is very impressive for me. but the interior is not that beautiful. It is again another temple complex with many stupa, pagoda and main temple. So if you have time, explore all, but i was too tired. See more..
  24. 4.5 Tung Bua Tong Forest Park Doi Mae Mae Ukho (17 reviews)

Spent 2-3 hours Parks • Gardens
Tung Bua Tong Forest Park Doi Mae Mae Ukho image
Beautiful side trip. There are few view points already on the way up the mountain. Pls. note it is ONLY during last week of Nov. to start of Dec. - other time of the year it just another hill area... There are few places of small market on the way - can stop for chicken and rice. The place itself is well organized with few short trails and balconies to take pictures. See more..
  25. 4.0 Wat Phra That Mae Yen (518 reviews)
    - High above the town of Pai
    Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites
Wat Phra That Mae Yen image
The white Buddha is visible from much of Pai. A peaceful place that is a work in progress on the lower grounds. Came here for the sunrise instead of the sunset so we practically had the place to ourselves. Looked like there was a small forest fire recently. A tranquil way to start the day. We had a scooter to get up here although I saw a few people walking. Once back in town, there’s a few street food stalls. See more..
  26. 4.0 MaeHongSon Lake (287 reviews)

  27. 4.0 Sai Ngam Hot Spring (192 reviews)
    - A lovely warm spring
    Hot Springs & Geysers
    Sai Ngam Hot Spring image
This is a lovely “warm” spring. It is not hot but the water was crystal clear and welcoming. We spent 2 hours here just hanging out as it was that comfortable and we met some lovely fellow travelers. Road to get here was a bit steep on the motorbike but definitely doable. We were charged 420 baht entrance fee (foreigner price) which was 200 per person plus 20 for motorbike. It was about a 30 minute motorbike ride from Pai If you want a natural HOT spring look up Muang Paeng Hot Spring See more..
  28. 4.0 Pai River (170 reviews)
    - Nice
    Bodies of Water
    Pai River image
A beautiful, clear river running through Pai and the jungle areas. I took a stroll along from Walking Street and it was very picturesque in some spots. Lots of hotels can be found near the river, also some good paths for walking. It’s nice to hear the trickling of water against rocks and fallen trees whilst listening to the birds talking to one another and the sounds of the jungle. See more..
  29. 4.0 Wat Chong Kham (107 reviews)
    - Beautiful Shan architecture
    Religious Sites
    Wat Chong Kham image
Wat Jong Kham was built approx 200 years ago by the Shan (Thai Yai) people. Wat Jong Klam has 100 years old glass paintings and a museum. Both are in the same grounds near the lake, Nong Jong Kham. There is also a huge Buddha which looks like basket weaving. Some areas women are forbidden to enter, so make sure you observe the relevant signs. The buildings are just magnificent including the stupas. A must is to visit at night as most of buildings are lit up and it is just beautiful with the night markets, food stalls and music playing. Take in a meal from one of many food vendors, sit by the lake and take in the view. Just magic! See more..
