  1. 4.5 Old Town (6.970 reviews)
    - Gdansk - Beautiful, Colorful Place

    Old Town image
Very lively place - colorful buildings, pirate ship ride, classic car ride, Giant wheel, restaurants - good place to spend a day. We thoroughly enjoyed the place. Since we wanted to go in the Giant Wheel during the sunset time - we also went to a nearby beach (Brezezno). See more..

  3. 4.5 Museum of the Second World War (Muzeum II Wojny Swiatowej) (3.171 reviews)
    - A very tasteful recreation of WWII history
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Military Museums • History Museums
Museum of the Second World War (Muzeum II Wojny Swiatowej) image
The WWII museum is Gdansk is definitely one of the finest attractions the city has to offer. For 29 pln entry, the museum showcases an in depth exhibition of how the war unfolded both from a Nazi Germany perspective and a Soviet perspective. The exhibitions are presented in chronological order making the experience much more fluid and enjoyable. I would also recommend purchasing an audio guide for 12 pln before you enter the main exhibitions as they point you to interesting parts of each exhibition room that you might miss, and provide more detail around some of the work on display. Not only is the museum visually appealing in terms of its architectural style, it is incredibly informative and engaging in the way it presents its exhibitions. I learnt things about Eastern European Geography that I never previously knew. Definitely consider visiting this place if you are in Gdansk. Leave yourself at least 2 hours to get around as there are lots of exhibitions. See more..
  4. 4.5 Muzeum Zamkowe w Malborku (2.536 reviews)
    - Wonderful place to visit! Well organized.
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Speciality Museums • Castles
    Muzeum Zamkowe w Malborku image
Awesome! Beautiful medieval castle that is interesting for kids and adults. Due to ticket office lines it’s worth to buy a tickets online or in the ticket vending machine and then just pick up audio guide. I highly recommend buying an audio guide option with the ticket so you can visit the castle with your private guide :). Audio guide is very well edited and gives you a lot of info. Have a break and eat in castle restaurant. Main courses are huge so they can be shared or buy kids meal that’s more than enough for an adult. Salad with chicken is 25zl (enough for one person) and kids meal is 18zl. I recommend having a brake because you will walk for more than 4 hours with audio guide. There’s a lot of stairs and uneven surfaces so it is not a disabled friendly place. There are some accessible spots but majority is not. There is accessible restroom. Summarizing it is a wonderful place to visit. See more..
  5. 4.5 Dluga Street (ul. Dluga) (2.056 reviews)
    - One word - beautiful!
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Dluga Street (ul. Dluga) image
When you walk along this street you would never think that most of the building have been heavily bombarded in WWII. I don't know who spent huge amount of money but the result will take your breath. Simply AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL... There are 3 houses which have been restored to their pre-war glory and are on display: The Uphagen House, the Ferber House, and Lion Court. We visited Uphagen House - beautiful! The street is full of restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. There are 2 tourist information shops on the street - one near the Green Gate , the other is opposite Town Hall. I must say they really don't help you. We wanted to go to visit famous Elblag canal but been told they give info only on Gdansk. We enjoyed also evening walk and despite we visited Gdansk in September it was full of tourists. We would like to return back. See more..
  6. 4.5 St. Mary's Church (1.740 reviews)
    - City Centre piece
Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
    St. Mary's Church image
There is enough room in this massive cathedral for 25,000 people and it remains one of the three largest brick built churches in the world. The highlight for me is the incredibly ornate monuments, the walls are literally covered with them. The main organ is especially ornate and beautiful. You can of course climb the very high tower for amazing panoramic views of the old town. See more..
  7. 4.5 Mariacka Street (ulica Mariacka) (1.698 reviews)
    - One of most charming
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas
    Mariacka Street (ulica Mariacka) image
Locally known as simply Mariacka Street runs from St. Mary's Basilica to the Motława River. It was badly damaged during WWII as all Old Town, though unlike other streets in Gdansk which were reconstructed with new materials, ul. Mariacka was pieced back together with salvaged-debris from elsewhere in the neighbourhood. The most notable relics on this street are the ornate gargoyle rain gutters on the gabled terraced houses, known locally as "Rzygacze" - "Spewers". Gdańsk is the amber capital of Poland and you will see many stalls selling this curious mineral all over Tri-city. However, ul. Mariacka is where you can find the most knowledgable and prestigious amber dealers. This short street is one of my favourite in Gdańsk. It can be very crowdy but I like especially during late evening when it is dark. See more..

  9. 4.5 Neptune's Fountain (Fontanna Neptuna) (1.060 reviews)
    - A timeless symbol of Gdansk
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Neptune's Fountain (Fontanna Neptuna) image
One of the most characteristic places of Gdansk, located near the famous King Arthur's Court, at the Long Market. A beautiful statue of the God of the Seas, considered on a par with the Crane as a symbol of Gdansk. The design of the figure representing Neptune was created by the architect and sculptor Abraham van den Blocke. The model of the figure was made by Peter Husen. The sculpture was cast in bronze in 1612 , in the municipal foundry in Gdansk. The figure weighs 650 kg. The bowl and the stem on which the statue stands are also authored by Abraham van den Blocke. A piece of history in a beautiful package. You can't be in Gdansk and not see Neptune. The Neptune Fountain is an icon of Gdansk. It is a' ' must see'' on the tourist map of Gdansk. See more..
  10. 4.5 Archikatedra Oliwska (924 reviews)
    - Beautiful cathedral
    Churches & Cathedrals
    Archikatedra Oliwska image
We took a taxi from Prestige Line company out to this church on our last morning in Gdansk, hoping it wouldn't be a waste of money, and it certainly was not. The church interior is stunning and the famous organ worth seeing in its own right. We happened to be there during an organ performance, and it was fascinating to watch the angel figures on the instrument playing their own parts of the music. Highly recommend the extra effort needed to get here (which can also be done by tram, but we had a flight to catch). See more..

Motlawa River Embankment (Dlugie Pobrzeze) image
One of my favourite things about Gdańsk was walking along the waters edge both on a morning and an evening. Perfect for people watching, restaurants and bars. The crane is cool to check out and the basilica stands proud slap bang in the middle. Good fun crossing over the bridges too and the ones that lift up and swivel out are enjoyable to witness. Tonight we rode on the amber eye Ferris wheel for beautiful views for miles around. Head here for a walk around and you won’t be disappointed. We found everything to be cheap and didn’t feel at all threatened or pestered when away. See more..

Pier in Gdynia Orłowie is about 180 m long and now is a pier promenade. The first pier was established here in 1924 and was 115 m Five years later it was rebuilt and extended to 430 m so that it could also serve as a haven for coastal shipping vessels. We went to visit the Cathedral which is connected to the park. It was really pleasure to walk through and around. There are plenty matured trees, small lakes with water lilies and ducks, event big greenhouse and restaurant. And we have been surprised by jumping red squirrel which came to us searching for hidden food and then run away to other tree. We visited it in September and it was a bit drizzling but we liked it a lot. We saw plenty people there so it's really popular with locals - no wonder, I would like to have it near to our place in UK. See more..

    Stutthof Concentration Camp image
Really glad I did this. Was very emotional and moving. We had a great tour guide who explained everything in English and was able to answer questions. We went in Winter when it had snowed and it felt so cold. I think this really added to the reality of the situation for us. Definitely recommend visiting this place if you are interested in history, want to learn more or just want to pay respects. You can do it without a tour guide as there are information boards in English but not for all of them. See more..
  19. 4.5 Old Town (347 reviews)
    - Olsztyn's highlight
Spent More than 3 hours Historic Walking Areas
    Old Town image
It may not be Kraków, but if you're in Olsztyn, it would be a sin not to visit the Old Town. Make sure to take a walk from the Nepomucen Bridge to the iconic High Gate and admire colorful townhouse facades on the way. Many houses boast different animal & human figures and patterns placed there during the post-war restoration. Visit the castle and the cathedral and take a break in one of the many restaurants, cafes or pubs in the area. In the summer, don't forget to taste unusual flavors of ice cream from the small stall next to the old city hall - it's the best in the city. Around Christmas, on the other hand, you will have the opportunity to see colorful illuminations. Take your time, don't expect wonders, and you will enjoy the small city atmosphere and fragments of still present medieval history. See more..

    Three Crosses Monument image
You should learn a bit of history of Poland and Solidarity movement to understand what this place means for Poles and how the events memorized by the monument influenced the history of Central Europe. I have visited this place for the first time when I was a student - it was in the mid eighties, just a few years after the monument was erected. It's very easy to got here from the city, we took tram No 6 - stop is in front of the main railway station (also tram No 8 is going the same direction). The ticket costs 4.80PLN zl. From the end of the tram at Jelitkowo it's about 5-10 minutes walking. When we were there it was a bit windy but we simply enjoyed being there. It must be very nice in the summer. Going to the beach we passed a restaurant where oldies have outside dancing party. You should visit it. See more..

  24. 4.5 Gizycko Water Tower (253 reviews)
    - Beautiful Views
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Observation Decks & Towers
    Gizycko Water Tower image
The Water Tower is closed until April. It was built in 1900 entirely of red unplastered bricks in the neo-gothic style with interesting external vaulting around its crown and two coats of arms over the entrance: one Mazurian and one municipal to emphasise its being part of the region. The water reservoir in the tower distributed water to all the dwellings for 97 years. Nowadays, following the great reconstruction of the interior and adding a dome and three additional floors and extending the viewing platform with telescopes, the tower has become Giżycko’s most unique tourist attraction. To reach the top, one has to climb 129 steps (or use the lift). The highest floor of the tower is 162 m above sea level and it houses a café. From this height, one can truly appreciate the panorama of the town and the surrounding areas with lakes and forests – a typical Mazurian landscape. The inside the tower houses the local museum with exhibits that illustrate the past life of the local people. See more..

    Długi Targ Square image
The Dlugi Targ square is a truly fascinating place to stop by and soak up. Having arrived into central Gdansk at lunch time we opted to grab a bite to eat in one of the restaurants overlooking the square and were amazed by the life and happenings going on. The square is easily located by entering the Dlugi Targ through either the Golden Gate at the Western end or the Green Gate at the Eastern end of the street. Lined with colourful buildings and intricate architecture it is sure to amaze. The fact that 90% of the city had to be rebuilt since WW2 is completely forgotten and lost whilst here and something that amazes people when reminded. The Dlugi Targ is also a brilliant place for a bit of people watching with all the street performers and things going on during the day. Be sure to get there early in the day for a quieter more personal photo and step up onto the Main Town Hall steps for a slightly higher angle! See more..

The museum is located in one of the best-preserved Gothic castles in Poland. For over 400 years it was the main seat of Warmia bishops. Until 1795, eminent representatives of culture and science resided here as bishops. Nicolaus Copernicus lived here for several years and the most famous bishop, Ignacy Krasicki, who did not like the castle and stayed in it only in summer. The castle can be visited from the basement to the upper floors. The most interesting interiors are on the first floor: the castle chapel, the great refectory, the house chapel, the audience hall. The two-story cloisters are said to be the only ones in Poland that have survived intact. See more..
