  1. 5.0 Majdanek State Museum (735 reviews)
    - Fundamental experience
    Historic Sites
    Majdanek State Museum image
The visit to the Majdanek nazi concentrtion camp is dramatic and moving, but it is also very important in order to keep up the memory of the past, in order to repeat: NEVERMORE! The camp is well preserved, open all day, and the visit is free. All information is written in Polish, Hebrew and English, so is accessible to everyone. Many barracks were preserved or reconstructed and some of them host interesting displays. The memorial monument is awesome, a real rocky mountain carved and eroded in order to express all the suffering. If you come to Poland, you definitely need to come to Lublin and see this museum. Armenian Tenement Houses image
Founded in 1580 by Jan Zamoyski, the Hetman (Head of the Army) of the Polish-Lithuania Commonwealth, Zamosc Starowka is one of the most beautiful Old town Squares in Poland. The very wealthy Jan Zamoyski contracted the Italian architect, Bernardo Morando to design a city based on the Renaissance style of Padua,Italy, and I have to say he did a brilliant job of it. The most prominent building is the Ratusz (Town Hall) on the North side of the square which is adjoined by beautiful Armenian Tenements, classic arcaded houses, various restaurants, Souvenir shops and other shops where you can spend many hours browsing or just sitting around the square admiring the buildings or stroll around the side streets discovering all the many other delightful sights of this wonderful City. 4. 4.5 Lublin Old Town (1.238 reviews)
    - Advice from my trip in Lublin
Spent More than 3 hours Historic Sites
    Lublin Old Town image
A Lublin Old Town is a really good place for evening walking. It`s not crowded and cozy. A majority of people are young because it`s the student city. I recommend you to view a Lublin Castle then you can rise to a Castle Tower and enjoy a panorama of a Castle Square. If we talk about a cuisine, a traditional dish in Lublin is "cebularz". It`s just the flapjack with an onion and a poppy seed filling but it`s pretty tasty if you like the onion, of course. So you should try it. Moreover, if you like a fastfood, you need to visit Paprica Kebab. You will find a lot of tasty dishes there. If you are a drink lover you need to go to a bar "Pijalnia wodki i piwa". It has available prices on a beer, shots, a cider and other drinks. I wish you a good trip! See more..

  6. 4.5 The Lublin Castle (424 reviews)
    - I am impressed
    Spent 2-3 hours Castles
    The Lublin Castle image
I went to the Castle without any plan. I was lucky, cause there was exhibition of Tamara Lempicka paintings. I totally loved this collection and the way it was exposed. Maybe just one remark: for this collection should be dedicated like double this space, it would make it easier to see its’ pieces among all these visitors. Even though the ticket was expensive (40 PLN for temporary exhibition is a lot) but I think it was worth it, especially when I downloaded Museum’s application I had access to very interesting audiobook that made my visit even more valuable for me. I will definitely visits Castle when I’ll be visiting Lublin again See more..

    - SWMBO loved it
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
The Lublin Open Air Village Museum image
The Lublin Open Air Village Museum was established in 1970. Set in 60 acres of picturesque land it is one of the largest open air museums in Poland. The area is composed of several parts reflecting particular geographical units of Lublin region. Our Museum preserves the historic images of villages, manors and provincial towns with their regional characteristic features of buildings and settlement layouts. Field crops, gardens and livestock enrich the open air museum exhibition. Customs, rituals and daily work of people living in the past are recreated thanks to the abundance of exhibits. At present, traditional rural architecture of Lublin Upland, Roztocze and Vistula River Region is represented, whereas Podlasie as well as Bug River Region are still under construction. The image of the past is complemented by a provincial town and a manor house accompanied by a park. What you may find particularly appealing about the Museum are the 17th century Roman Catholic church and th See more..
  9. 4.5 Bialowieza Forest (310 reviews)
    - Stunningly beautiful forested area in Eastern Poland
    Forests
    Bialowieza Forest image
I visited Bialowieza forest and village many, many years ago in the mid 90s (I had to lie in the "when did you go" section). I remember it as a truly beautiful place. I was lucky enough to be able to roam the forest preserve because I was there as an educational connection. The forest is like something out of another world and whilst most people might not be as lucky as I was there are still tours that allow you to see the forest. The whole areas is incredibly beautiful. Bialowieza village has a charm of its own and the surrounding villages too. In the 90s it was a bit of a challenge to get to. I'm sure that is very different now. If you ever get the oppurtunity to visit Bialowieza then you should do it. I plan to travel again and Bialowieza is on my list. See more..
  10. 4.5 Kosciuszko Market Square (293 reviews)
    - Cool city market square as many in Europe
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Kosciuszko Market Square image
The market square is the central place of every old town. Currently, they are generally very touristic places where you can eat, drink and watch life. The Białystok market square is nice, on the one hand the town hall is pleasant to the eye, and on the other, old churches. Quite a quiet place, Białystok is a local center, but considering the global conditions it is a small city in eastern Poland. See more..
  11. 4.5 Old Town (279 reviews)
    - The city of one very coherent vision.
Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas • Architectural Buildings
    Old Town image
The city of one very coherent vision. It is true that Zamość is far from the beaten paths of today's Poland. However, it is a gem worth seeing if you have come to Poland for longer and have some time. It is an IDEAL CITY according to the builders' intention, of course in the Renaissance / Baroque idea. It was built for one man, maybe his family. Sometimes they call Zamość the Padua of the North. The vision was taken from the solutions of Italian cities. Generally speaking, it is beautiful, but in fact you will visit everything from cover to cover from morning to dusk in two days. The city is also a so-called compact city, because it was contained in walls also built in the shape of the Renaissance. What we are seeing now is the modernization from the 1830s. See more..

  14. 4.5 Holocaust Memorial Wall (170 reviews)
    - Common History of Nations
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries • Religious Sites
    Holocaust Memorial Wall image
I decided to write about this place for several reasons. It is a place that concerns our common History and its repression is associated with our (Poles) complexes. We pretend that there were no Jews, but cemeteries are a proof of a completely different reality. Located by the road, on the edge of a hill and in the forest makes it unnoticed for us. Rebuilt from what was left after years of "repression" forces us to reflect. I recommend stopping by at least for a few moments just to think about what caused that a large part of our nation, which were Jews, suddenly ceased to exist. How much has our National Heritage lost through this loss. JC See more..

Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and John the Evangelist image
Built at the height of the glory of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It is one of the examples of our culture and even Central European civilization. It is very richly decorated and is one of the most beautiful churches of this type. That is why it is sometimes difficult to visit it, because there is always something going on there, from the funeral to the baptism to the wedding. I was never able to visit it calmly because I was at the wrong times. See more..
