Mariacka Street (ulica Mariacka), Northern Poland, Poland

One of most charming

Locally known as simply Mariacka Street runs from St. Mary's Basilica to the Motława River. It was badly damaged during WWII as all Old Town, though unlike other streets in Gdansk which were reconstructed with new materials, ul. Mariacka was pieced back together with salvaged-debris from elsewhere in the neighbourhood. The most notable relics on this street are the ornate gargoyle rain gutters on the gabled terraced houses, known locally as "Rzygacze" - "Spewers". Gdańsk is the amber capital of Poland and you will see many stalls selling this curious mineral all over Tri-city. However, ul. Mariacka is where you can find the most knowledgable and prestigious amber dealers. This short street is one of my favourite in Gdańsk. It can be very crowdy but I like especially during late evening when it is dark.

Mariacka st. A must see don’t miss it
One of the oldest streets, ending with a church that is enormous. Church Mariacki, on a side note was finished in 1400. It took over 100 years to build it, a must to learn how they did it. Going back to the street it holds many hidden game like restourants and small amber shops. One of the restaurants we found with amazing food was literancka. You might have to make a reservation to get a seat. The small shopping places have many hand made products and artistic creations. If you are visiting Gdansk a must to see.

A charming, simply essence of the old city
A wonderful charming street is crowned with St. Mary's Basilica from the west, and St. Mary's Gate from the east. A very climatic place. One of the prettiest streets in Gdansk. Full of spots where you can buy amber jewelry. There is also lots of antique shops here. So, it is beautiful location to buy amber, silver, gifts and souvenirs here. You can also see gargoyles that still play their role in draining water. A wonderful, magical place with a unique atmosphere. This is the quintessence of old Gdansk. A place where time slows down and our senses go crazy. Perfect for shooting. A very interesting place.
