I made a very last minute booking with them. 25 minutes after I inquired a boat was waiting for me. I just did a morning cruise for two hours. No mosquitos at all at this time, which is why I chose this timing. The boat was probably suitable for 20, but I was alone. Despite that, I thought the price was reasonable. The Chobe river has more animal life but here you can still see otters, hippos and crocodiles. The Zambeezi is really pretty, so I would recommend this to anyone staying in the area. At the moment crossing borders is a hassle (Covid), so you are a bit limited if you are based out of Katima. Even after Covid I would still recommend this tip. Further the team was really helpful in trying to find me a solution to do another activity. They were not able to fulfill my need but were able to network with other lodges and próviders to find a suitable solution. Daniel was a great guide! See more..

    - Wild Africa
    National Parks
    Nkasa Rupara National Park image
We stayed in Jackalberry Camp (it was great and Jackalberry will collect). You need a 4X4 to access the Nkasa Rupera Park driving down successive islands to Jackalberry with a swamp on either side (fairly dry when we were there but the swamp floods extensively in the rains). There were elephants on the move, buffalo, lechwe antelope, warthogs and on the river crocodiles and hippos plus much more. Birds there were a plethora. But people amazingly few. You felt you were really in deepest Africa. Jackalberry provided excellent game drives and a river cruise. If you just drive through the park you would not see so much of the animals - they are, as others have advised sparser than say in Etosha. See more..
  5. 4.5 Buffalo Core Area (39 reviews)
    - Great day wildlife viewing
Friday: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Buffalo Core Area image
Buffalo Core Area is located across the river from the more popular Mahango NP. This was our first visit as in previous years we were unsure about driving conditions in the park and therefore gave it a miss. So glad we finally did it, it is very easy to self-drive around, but would recommend a 4x4 vehicle as it is quite sandy in places. The road follows the river most of the way and is excellent for spotting water birds. We also came across a massive herd of elephants at the riverside and after watching them for around an hour, as we left them we suddenly found ourselves completely surrounded by more elephants making their way down to the river. Absolutely amazing. See more..

The most unique African experience. And it has two of the best places to stay one being ichingo lodge the other being their sister house boats. All game viewing and activities are done on the water so if you are doing the land safaris this will give you a whole different perspective as all the animals come to you. Amazing place. See more..

    Mashi Crafts image
I bought two baskets here which I treasure. They are wonderful quality, fairly traded and even have labels with the maker's name and village. The experience was unhurried, prices are clearly displayed and the staff were friendly. Buying crafts here supports local people and keeps traditions alive. Phone ahead to check opening. See more..

    Hippo AquaCulture Farm image
HIPPO AQUACULTURE FARM IS CLOSED AND NO MORE IN EXISTENCE. It was a long 8 Km drive from "Kololo Guesthouse" on the Katima Mulio -Windhoek highway through one of the loneliest roads i have been on,absolutely no sign of humans. Finally reached the huge gate of "Hippo Aquaculture Farm" with no human in sight and thanks to driver Jimmy who personally opened the gate and drove the car into the estate that we managed to enter this palatial lodgea quaculture farm. A young lady was feeding the fish in the barrel shaped fish ponds.I approached her and she allowed me to film her feeding the fish later ringing up the owner about my arrival. The owner a White Namibian Mr Gunther.Hertz arrived at the scene and mistook me to be a buyer of fish farms. He told me that "Covid-19" had ruined tourism and their "Hippo Aquaculture Farm" had closed down and would be sold and occupied by the Namibian Armed Forces. He told me to meet Mr Imran.Vadi in Katima Mulilo who owned a aquaculture farm and taxi driver Jimmy knew the address which was a great relief.Thanked German origin Namibian Mr Gunther.Hertz and drove out of the palatial farm estate that was straight out of a Hollywood or Bollywood film set See more..
