- 5.0 Acatenango Volcano (1.213 reviews)
-Summiting the Acatenango Volcano to see Volcán de Fuego
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Volcanos
We (group of 2) enjoyed a wonderul experience of hiking up the Acatenango Volcano and saw and heard the Volcán de Fuego erupting all evening and well into the night. Our guide Ronal Real was very well experienced, super knowledgeable and made it all possible within safety to enjoy the hike and the summiting at its best. We were really lucky with the weather and enjoyed a dry hike up as well as a dry evening wehre we had at our view the magnificent and roaring Volcán de Fuego (I wish I had better photography equipment for the night shots/videos!). Next day we were not so lucky with the weather as the clouds did not clear upto see the sun coming out but still it was a great experience to hike up to the summit over the ridge and see the craters. 5 stars go to our guide Ronal Real! -Fabulous cultural experience
Cultural Tours
I took two 12 yr olds to the weaving and tortilla making workshop. We loved it. The women give a detailed description of traditional weaving and traditional foods in Spanish, then they teach how to use the back strap loom. They have rescue animals that are very friendly. We also made tortillas. The town is lovely and it’s so nice to get outside of the touristy bustle of Antigua. Highly recommend this experience and a wonderful organization to support. See more..

- 5.0 Xtrema Bungee (16 reviews)
-So fun!!!
Thursday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Adrenaline & Extreme Tours
I had the best time!! I was picked up where I was staying (awesome) and then taken to the bungee site. It was very nerve wracking being buckled in but they have extra buckles to keep you safe. Going up in the air so fast was insane!!! I haven't had an adrenaline rush like that in so long and I think everyone should do it. Also, them having beer for you after is really great, and needed. Then I was driven back to where I'm staying but not before I was taken to arrange my shuttle to the next city. It was totally unexpected and awesome how nice they are I'm not sure when I will be back but I would recommend this to anyone, it was a great experience!!! See more..

Excellent tour! I have now done it 3 times and every time it's better and more educational. What this community is doing to elevate themselves through art and music is so impressive. Meeting the people behind this project, who are also the guides, and truly tell us their story gives so much hope and beauty. One of the more highly recommend tours for sure! See more..
- 5.0 Cafe Entre Volcanes Pequenos Productores (10 reviews)
-Fantastic and very special experience
Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Coffee & Tea Tours
I was lucky enough to learn about this authentic and amazing coffee tour while sipping on my coffee in Cafe GuateJave in Antigua. A cafe that supports small coffee farmers. Will, the barista, arranged the tour for me. After the arrival in Escobar, farmer Eduardo showed us the coffee trees. He was very knowledgeable about the coffee growing and making process. Eduardo invited us to his house where his charismatic and adorable wife Franziska roasted the coffee beans for us. She also showed us how to manually grind the beans. It was an absolute amazing experience, very personal in our small group of three people. At the end we got to take a bag of coffee beans home and I bought a very cool little coffee bag (15q). It feels good to support small businesses and make sure the money reaches the farmer directly without middle man. Muchos Gracias to Eduardo & Franziska. This memory will stay with me :) See more..

- 5.0 Antigua Spa Resort (2 reviews)
-Antigua city
Spas
Probably one of the most surreal places I have ever been in the world. From the beautifully historical ruins of Antigua city , surrounded by ancient, still active volcanos , with the most hospitable and friendly people I have ever come across. A back packers dream with extremely cheap accomodation and excellent inexpensive quality food and loads of cool bars , Ocelot , to name one , an amazing place filled with locals , and tourists alike. A well heeled travellers dream , with hotels of perfection , luxurious sumptuous foods and wines . All this amidst one of the poorest places on earth . The Mayan people , in my experience have little if any wealth , even less education and yet seem so happy . Well on the outside at least. I suppose ignorance is bliss , in some respects. I have been a couple of times now , helping with a childrens charity I support. A very rewarding thing indeed. Walking around the main market is a real eye opener , watching the local people interact with each other , culturally , is quite amazing . I recommend anyone to take a trip there . You will not be disappointed . See more..

- 4.5 Pacaya Volcano (2.630 reviews)
-Good hike, not super difficult. Interesting volcano to see!
Volcanos
We went with an organized tour bus out of Antigua, which took drove us there then handed us off to a local guide for the hike, which is pretty standard. You can book a tour for a wide range of prices, but I don't see much difference, so I'm not sure what makes it worth paying 2-3x as much for some of them. The hike isn't too difficult if you are in shape at all. Enjoyable with some nice views. Due to eruptions a year or two ago, you can't go to the summit, but you go to a nice viewing area where you can see the steam coming out of the top and vents on the side. Then hike down to the edge of the lava field where the guides roast marshmallows over hot spots that they've found. We had some really great views of the other volcanos around Antigua (Fuego, Agua,...) as wellas the whole valley on the hike back down. We did the morning hike, because we thought there was a better chance of good visibility. They also offered evening hikes where you might get to see Fuego's glowing lava. See more..

-Really incredible exhibit.
Thursday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums • Art Museums • History Museums
This is actually a group of museums which surround the grounds of Santa Domingo. For 40 Q (about $5:00) you tour through several buildings: an art gallery (with working artist), a Pharmacy Museum, and a couple additional museums. The jewel is the last one. They have put together an incredible exhibit which pairs Pre-Columbian artifacts with modern versions of the same subject. It is simply brilliant and is worth the price by itself. See more..
- 4.5 Cerro de la Cruz (1.454 reviews)
-Beautiful Views
Thursday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
Cerro de la Cruz gives awesome views of the city. We went early early in the day; definitely recommended to avoid the heat the sun brings in the afternoon. I also recommend taking a tuk tuk/taxi/Uber up the hill if you aren't in great shape. It is a fairly steep climb. There are several vantage points for pictures, but you aren't likely to spend more than an hour visiting. It is absolutely worth the time for the beautiful views! See more..
