   Went while on business in Metzatenango, have been wanting to go past few trips and finally got to go. Loved it, went on Thursday in February, park fairly empty, was awesome!. Food was pretty good too. BTW, the best atol de lote. See more..

   Went here for a day trip out of Quetzal. Really easy to get to via chicken bus, and they drop you off in front. This is better than any park ive been to in the states. So many awesome rides, and very little lines. The jaguar ride is crazy! You go into a little pod standing up, and then the floor drops and you are shot out like a cannon. Almost backed out, but so glad I didn't! All the other rides were so much fun too! Such a cool water park. The lines for the chicken place were longer than any line for the food, never got to try it, but judging from the lines it must have been amazing! The park is a 100Q, which is less than $15.    Visited on 18 February 2015. 50 Q to enter per person. Guide provided but they speak only Spanish and you are expected to tip as they receive no wages. As we all spoke some Spanish this was not an issue and our guide; Bernardo, was a wonderful guy. Well informed and funny. The site is located over a series of five ascending terraces. You will enter at terrace three. Nice setting in the Guatemalan jungle. This is an active dig so you will see a lot of excavation and cleaning going on as you tour. Takalik is still a religious center for the local Mayans. We encountered a few Shamans making offerings on the ancient altars sprinkled around the site. There are no animal sacrifices. If you want to see that go to Nepal. Much better than I expected. I came away with a better appreciation for the Mayans and their culture. I would definitely come back as I understand that they are building a museum to house their finds. See more..

   This toy museum is unexpectedly tucked in along the highway from Xela to Reu. From the outside it might not look like much, but it is worth the stop. The collection of toys is outstanding and there are incredible showcases prepared in themes with action figures collected from all kids of movies, comics, and cartoons. It's worth the day trip from Xela or it can be combined into an overnight trip for a family that wants to visit Xocomil. Perfect stop if you are traveling along the coast or in the highlands with children. See more..

   Dino Park is close to Xetulul. It is a great experience to see prehistoric animals in real size. There are more than 70 animated dinosaurs. Vegetation and surroundings are well kept. Lots of activities in a safe, familiar and friendly place. This is must in Retalhuleu. See more..
