  1. 5.0 Raft Amazonia (215 reviews)
    - SIMPLY GREAT

    Raft Amazonia image
We had an outstanding rafting experience with Raft Amazonia The guys who we went with were totally professional educating us in technique and safety but above all ensuring we had fun. All the participants agreed it was an remarkable experience that they would recommend. The safety requirements required a separate kayak guy who helped any participants who fell from the raft ( as is likely) and photographs the event and emails a day or so later. Don’t be concerned about the lack of a shop front business as this event is operated from a residential property with a back room where equipment is stored and booking is completed. Participants will quickly gain confidence in the team when the event starts with a safety briefing at the river ...... Totally recommended fun experience See more..

    Kayak Ecuador image
rld class whitewater experience!! Fantastic communication from beginning to end. Santi is the owner and operator of kayak Ecuador. He would get up in the mornings early arrange all of the logistics, go and check water levels and pair us with rivers that met our skill level. He went above and beyond to make sure that we felt safe on the water. Logistics can be difficult in a foreign country for whitewater, but Santi made it feel easy and super organized. Having Kayak Ecuador plan your Whitewater adventure is worth every penny! The Pacha Eco lodge is beautiful and super comfortable. Santi‘s partner Dani is an excellent chef and made us feel so welcome. Food was amazing! Everything exceeded our expectations. Seriously this was a world-class experience. See more..

In the rapids they find the nicest waves and in the quieter parts of the river they know nice stories about the communities on the banks of the river. Would love to do it again! See more..

    Akangau Jungle Tours image
We did a two day tour with Daniel, guide extraordinare! We went to Gran Cañón for a hike in the jungle, ceremonial caves, stayed in a cabin in the jungle (eco dreams) and did a class III rapids tour! Daniel was extremely knowledgeable with 16 years as a guide, and grew up in the jungle! He knew all the birds by their calls and plants and made us feel very safe. He didn’t rush us at all and we ended up doing a longer hike through waterfalls and cayoneering inside a cave!! It was awesome. He also cooked us an amazing dinner at the lodge and had a great vegetarian option. He was an excellent rafting guide and went through all the safety protocols and kept us very safe in the boat even just the two of us! His English is excellent and he is so easy to get along with. He is also wilderness rescue trained and emergency response trained for medical emergencies which is reassuring in the jungle!!! Highly recommend asking for him. See more..

    Selva Verde Tours image
After arriving in Misahualli in the morning we contacted Luis from Selva Verde Tours on short notice to ask for a day trip into Jatun Sacha biological reserve. He directly came in from Tena and went personally on a day trip with us-organised on short notice but professional all the same. Luis knows a lot about plants, birds and other animals, so there was plenty to see and learn.Though we could have gone alone into the reserve it was worth it to go with Luis, who turned a simple jungle hike into a marvellous experience. I can definitely recommend Luis as a guide, especially if you are looking for an english speaking guide who is familiar with birds&plants in the rainforest See more..

    Ara Adventure River Amazonas image
Under the inspiring guidance Ara Adventure we made a hike to a camp in the jungle near Tena. The Guide has taught us wise lessons about the medical effects of various plants and grilled fresh fish in palm leaves. Delicious! Estuardo, nicknamed El Pajero, initiated us into bird spotting. We also spotted footprints of a favourite animal, the tapir. The tapir however did not show up. Better luck next time. It is great to experience how Eduardo and his guides are one with nature. A once in a lifetime experience. Highly recommended! See more..

Nice trip. It is so peaceful once you arrive. Walking time about 20 minutes, pictures are awesome. The most beautiful entry door to the Amazon. We did this rafting tour with Kayak Ecuador and had a fantastic day! Started off with a jungle trek that lead us to the most magical canyon I have ever seen. We climbed through a cave to a waterfall then climbed a ladder. Got to jump off a ledge (about 7m) into a pool. The rafting was phenomenal. Scenery, rapids, waterfalls... everything was spectacular. Highly recommend - go with Santiago and his team from Kayak Ecuador. They have an office in town. See more..

    - Over 30 years of Amazon experience, these guys were great!
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Runawa Tours image
We took a day tour with the owners Carlos and his brother Peppe. This guy's were excellent, can speak good English, and know there stuff. We took a great walk through the Jungle/ rainforest through some pretty thick brush, visited a couple of authentic indigenous areas, the AmaZoonico, and went to a caiman area. They provided lunch at a restaurant that was next to the river that you travel down on the banana boat. This was an excellent fulfilling tour of the Amazon. What added to the trip was Carlos and Peppe's knowledge and experience of the different insects and animals in the Amazon. Bring insect repellent with deet. The office is next to the Misahuallí city sign. The sign is on one of the pictures I have posted. See more..
  22. 5.0 Ricancie (2 reviews)
    - The Ecuadorian Amazon
Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Other Outdoor Activities
    Ricancie image
The RICANCIE is a network of Kichwa communities of the Alto Napo, located within the Sumaco Biosphere Reserve, Napo Galeras. In order to counteract the inequality of the great tourist companies in the 90s towards the native peoples and nature, the Kichwa communities were organized with the aim of promoting community tourism. Ricancie proposes a self-management and alternative program, based on the consensual participation of its members, proper management of natural resources and revalue the culture and its patrimonies, in order to guarantee our millenary philosophy of respect and care for the "PACHAMAMA", our mother earth, with whom we have sacred links. RICANCIE is a perfect combination of ancestral knowledge and practical activities of the daily life of the Amazonian Kichwa people, its legends, spirituality, crafts, cooking with chocolate, cultural emotions articulated with the Amazon rainforest, rivers, waterfalls, flora that show natural beauty and cultural. 25. 5.0 Las Rocas Lounge & Bar (1 review)
    - HAMBURGUESAS CON SUS JUGUETES
    Bars & Clubs
See more..

  27. 5.0 Quijos River (1 review)
    - Rafting the Quijos River or Rio Quijos in Ecuador
    Bodies of Water
    Quijos River image
Having rafted the Fualeufu River and a number of other big rivers in Chile, I decided to try Ecuador. This review is of the Rio Quijos, in the highland areas about 2 hours from Quito. Other reviews will address the Jondachi and Jatunacu Rivers. I rafted with a very well respected rafting and kayak company called Small World Adventures. Their safety and guides and spectacular. The Rio Quijos is a rain and partial snow fed river. The water tends to be cold, but shorty wet suits work fine. The river is chock full of class 3 and class 4 rapids. The Baeza to Borja part has beautiful scenery and fun rapids. I especially liked the Borja Run and the run through the "El Chaco" canyon, which were both filled with Class 4 rapids. The Quijos has no bugs or known poisonous creatures of any kind. You can stay at Small World's lodge and enjoy great food and accommodations while you enjoy this rafting trip. On the way back to Quito, be sure to stop at the Papallacta Hot Springs for a soak in the volcanic water to loosen your muscles after all that paddling. See more..

Amazoonico Animal Rescue Centre image
The beautiful place in the forest.Tena is a very beautiful city, because it has many forests, and the people are very friendly. The tours that occur in the city for tourists are very complete. You can observe wild animals, also the landscapes in Tena are beautiful, the rivers are warm and clear. Last year my family and I visited this city and fell in love with the kindness of the people and the beautiful landscapes. If you visit Ecuador, I recommend you visit the city of Tena, if you want to relax and practice different types of sports in nature, this is the city you need. See more..
  30. 4.5 San Rafael Waterfall (77 reviews)
    - Worth the Drive
    Waterfalls
    San Rafael Waterfall image
San Rafael Waterfall is about 3 1/2 hours from Quito. To get there you must first cross the Andes, so if the altitude effects you, be aware that you will go up to about 4000 meters. Stop at the peak to take in the rare paramo ecosystem that helps to regulate the water flows. One side drains to the Pacific, the other side to the Amazon and Atlantic. Stop in Baeza town (one of the oldest towns in Ecuador) for breakfast along the way. Another caution, there are a lot of windy roads and drivers will pass with no visibility. 3 of my 5 family members got car sick. But at the end of the day, it was worth it to see the Ecuadorian Amazon and the waterfall was amazing. See more..
