   This is a 44-metre high, octagonal, brick pagoda. It is a protected national relic, the symbol of Yan’an, and located on the top of Baota Hill (Pagoda Hill), which is 1136 metres in height and overlooks Yan'an City. Similar to many pagodas in China, it is illuminated in the evening. President Xi Jinping has referred to Baota Mountain as the symbol of the Chinese Communist revolution. The pagoda was originally built during the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907), and rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). An inexpensive way to get to the pagoda is by bus # 1 or #3. Take in the splendour of the bygone era and appreciate the history behind the man and his close associates.    You'll first have to take a bus up to the mountain. There will be 3-4 stops where u can talk a walk up or walk to the next boarding point before reaching the cable car station. We took the cable car up, walked along the platform from 1 peak to the other peak and headed back due to the weather, snow was piled up to knee height. There's lots of stairs to climb so do not attempt if you've knee injuries. The walk wasn't really tiring but due to the high altitude, you may be very exhausted. so do rest if you need, benches, shelters are provided along the walk. Do prepare winter gears if you wanted to go up, or alternatively, you can rent a coat for about RMB 50. best time to hike up is summer as it might still have some snow at the peak but it won't be as cold.    This is an excellent scenic area that is under-rated. Though the lakeside path, is definitely not original, the modern reconstruction still demonstrates what an ancient military path would have looked like in this area. You get to appreciate the difficulty of moving an army in this terrain in China. There are a series of excellent mural paintings and statues near the entrance. I would recommend bringing a friend who can read Chinese and is well-versed in literature to explain these murals and statues-- these are classic Chinese stories and it is very exciting to see the effort in celebrating, preserving, and introducing these archetypal stories. 这是非常值得去的地方。门口的雕塑和壁画都是中国典故，十分有教育和爱国价值。不喜欢的人是没有文化教养。当然古栈道以不存在，但新修的使你能见道古人在此地型出兵的困难。风景十分漂亮。门票价钱十分值。一定推荐給朋友。 See more..

    It took me two months to find the Weinan Drum Tower. It was worth the wait. The Tower is a little gem of history that has not been "fixed up." Take #1 bus to old Weinan across the River and keep your eyes left and you will easily see it. About 10 minute ride from new Weinan. Built in 1557 after the 1555 earthquake. Was lucky to find caretaker who let me into tower for a visit. Plenty to look at and image what the place use to be like. See more..

    去昭陵，让我和朋友都觉得陕西的旅游和文物保护都做得不好。
    1、去昭陵，并不像书上和网上的攻略写的那样“坐了长途车到礼泉就有公交巴士”，事实上我们下了长途大巴后根本没车可转，只能包一辆黑车。100元一天，吉利车。据说当地人都没公交车可坐，我们转了一天下来也确实没发现公交车和车站。不明白昭陵这么有名的景点，为什么不开通旅游专线？
    2、包车去昭陵，得上山。途中经过韦贵妃墓和长乐公主墓，我和朋友心想来都来了，而且长乐公主很有名，我们应该去看看。两座古墓从外观看都非常简陋，管理员是当地农民，票价不便宜，20元一张。我们进去以后觉得这票价非常不值。古墓壁画损毁非常严重，破坏的程度得让人想流泪。长乐公主墓的壁画精美绝伦，但由于潮湿、渗水，墙皮都快脱落了，壁画的颜料有流淌的印迹，虽然是干掉的印迹，一看就是水浸湿过的。最可恶的是，在最里面摆放棺椁的内室，墙上刻划得一塌糊涂，全是游人刻的“到此一游”“XX爱XX”，完全看不出壁画的样子。更有人爬到最高处的墓室顶上刻字，我不明白这些怎么那么好的精力和体力，如此热衷为自己留名。后来当我们知道，这些昭陵的陪葬墓都是承包给私人看护时，我们明白为什么保护得如此之差，又为什么票价会如此贵（相对于保存精美、完善的兵马俑、阳陵才90、40多元的票价，你就会知道我们为什么说贵了！！）他们只顾收钱，从来不维护！后来又听说墓室里壁画是复制品，我这才踏实了点，但是游人们这种行为仍让我觉得不耻。“丑陋的中国人”，我为自己的同胞感到羞愧，为我们同胞不知保护自己祖先留下来的灿烂文化感到痛心。自己都不爱惜自己的文化，我们的文化能不消亡吗？
    3、最后到了昭陵，我们实在太失望了。这好歹也是唐太宗李世民的墓啊！完全不像我们以前在网上看到的图片，给我们的感觉就像圆明园遗址一样苍凉。虽然那些图片上看起来未加修护，断壁残垣，但是也比我们亲眼看到的崭新的大理石广场、不伦不类、貌似豪华却粗糙的豆腐渣工程要好，完全就成了一个人造景点。唐太宗的雕像是空心的，两边仿造的昭陵六骏石碑已经断成了好几截，广场的石台阶都已经下陷，最可笑的是那些仿制的石马，雕功如此粗鄙，如同两只胖狗一般，毫无艺术感可言，难道诺大一个陕西，就找不出有精湛雕刻工艺的石厂或艺术家？还是那句话：这个工程不知亏空了多少银子，才会如此节省成本。

    Apart from the fact that there is trash (a lot!) anywhere tourists stop (and they stop anywhere) especially at the few attractions worth seeing (like the Ju Weng Tan waterfall), nothing has been done in this national park to make it pleasant to visit (no satisfactory signage, no well-planed rest area, only one very narrow road where driving can be a nightmare, no picknick area, but TRASH EVERYWHERE you stop! What is even WORSE is that I when I arrived at a guest house in a small village at the western edge of the park, 4 local "leaders" came to tell me that I was not allowed to stay because I was a foreigner (I'lm white, they would not even have noticed if I had been Korean or Japanese). For close to one hour, they insisted I had to go, but since they were not policemen and my papers/visa are valid, I didn't budge, and they gave up their threats only when I showed a picture where I appear with the Chinese president. Bunch of chickens! The minute you show that you are not afraid, THEY become afraid. I'm being constantly called "laowei" (foreigner), pointed at, laughed at, stared at as if I was a zoo animal, and more, but I cannot accept RACISM, and I will fight for my right to be where I want, the minute it's legal. I was already shocked a little while ago to have to show my ...passport to enter the Yading National Park (yes!!), but I cannot accept RACISM against anyone, including against myself, and I will DEFEND myself tooth and nails if I'm attacked.     After driving the 150km to Binxian we found the initial big tourist sign for the Big Buddah at the Binxian exit. Then followed the directions on this site to find nothing. In fact if you go look for the sign Dafosi and follow this as it's the correct sign. We enjoyed this historical site and particularly the big buddah. In fact even more than the Leshan big buddah.     Cherry Ravine is located in Xixiang Shaanxi Province, a very small town in the middle of China. Though its location is quite remote, it’s China's second largest cherry base. So that there still are many people come to visit it. Every March is the flowering season, we can see snow-white cherry flowers all over the mountains just like a white picture. Then every May, cherry mellows. They are sweet and delicious. Except for eating them directly, we also can make cherry wine and cherry biscuits. The villagers living in Cherry Ravine can teach us do that, and I ever have a try and find out that’s easy to do and delicious. Don’t think we only can enjoy the pretty scene in Cherry Ravine, there are also quantities of farmhouses. That’s what I like most, because I can eat many food I can’t have in city, such as wild, stewed chicken and other special snack in Xixiang. Also, for photographers and the beauty, they can take a group artistic photos. I have done that before, just like a Flower Fairy. So I think all of you can enjoy it. Last but not the least, cherry trees are planted by the villagers and it’s their main income. So that, while you enjoy them don’t damage the trees and try to be a civilized visitor. See more..

    阿姑泉位在西安市郊的秦嶺山腳，自古以來都是關中的賞牡丹勝地。
    阿姑泉的牡丹圃沿斜坡而設，牡丹頗為茂密，且因是自然環境，不是人工花園，故比洛陽更有山林野趣。
    粗眉仔到訪時，山腳的牡丹已敗，但上到地勢高處，氣溫相對低些，牡丹花容正茂，斜坡上一片花浪，美得令粗眉仔喘不過氣來。
    牡丹圃有專人守衛，防止有人太接近牡丹，傷到嬌嫩的花兒。
    建議近傍晚時參觀，因遊人不多，空氣靜謐清新，更易嗅到細細的牡丹甜香。 See more..

There are many places in China dedicated to the leaders and many soldiers of the Red Army who lost their life in the hope of a better China for their children and all the people of China.     We drove to Binxian at CNY Spring festival. We followed the big Buddah signs but found the attraction was actually called Dafosi and located in the wall grottoes. An inexpensive entry fee the real feature is the quality Big Buddah inside the large cave. It's quality and features being better than that at Leshan but not as tall. Overall worth the effort.
