  1. 5.0 Mondulkiri Project (695 reviews)
    - Great experience in an elephant sanctuary
Friday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Mondulkiri Project image
The most important is that you can really see the good condition of the 4 elephants. The confident way how the elephants behave allows to see that the team is taking care of them. The guide explains clear the basis of the Mondulkiri project and how they work for the wellness of the elephants. Unforgetable experience for my wife and I. As a recommendation, I consider that they should ban people to smoke in the sanctuary. Even though is open space, I think that is not good to have people smoking around these beautiful animals. Also, our group was of just 8 persons, and everything worked perfectly. Nevertheless, we stayed there one night and we saw that the group of the next day was of around 20-25 persons, and I wonder if is it possible for the elephants to feel comfortable with so large groups. 2. 5.0 Elephant Valley Project (655 reviews)
    - Unforgettable Elephant Experience
Friday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Elephant Valley Project image
My wife and I spent a full day with Elephant Valley Project on their "Ele Lover" program, and it proved an unforgettable experience. It was a full day, and we had an abundance of time to walk alongside the elephants and observe them in their natural environment. One could argue that it was almost too much time; however, conversations with the local Bunong guides and program managers kept us engaged the entire time. While I have pursued various elephant experiences in my travels, EVP is truly unique in the partnership they have with the indigenous Bunong people. Hearing of their ritual practices and of EVP's efforts to shape a positive elephant-human relationship amidst increased habitat loss was fascinating. Come ready to learn; it is these aspects that make a good program great. See more..

    - Close up to the Elefants

Elephant Community Project - Day Tours image
We used the possibility to see Elefants in their natural habitat. No expectations, just for fun. The tour started by bus, well organized and by nice people supported. On a hill we were dropped and started the about 30 min hiking into the djungle. We got some food for the animals, soon to see, as the guide indicated. Still no expectations we walked down the hill. All of the sudden a huge male elefant named Mr Bon came out of the bushes. What a moment . Great feeling to see this animal 10 m ahead, nothing between us and Mr Bon. He smells the food we are carrying and came slowly but distict to us. The guide told us what to do and all of us feel very good feeding the elefant. Later we meet two elefant girls, who wanted could take a bath im the close by river with them. Very good, in the djungle prepared food gives the half day trip a wounderful ending. Strong recommondation. Good feeling, good pictures and helping the formerly domestigied elefants is something you should not miss. See more..

    Jahoo image
The entire experience was magical. Waking up before sunrise to await the Gibons singing was well worth it. It was delightful following the Gibons family in the morning and learning about their group dynamics. The local guides took us through the forest for the rest of the day pointing out every little creature we surely would have missed on our own. They then sourced ingredients as we walked for a freshly cooked meal at a lovely waterfall for lunch. Every person we met at Jahoo was passionate about their work and the environment we were touring. I could not recommend this heart-filled experience more. The organization is purpose and passion driven and it shows. Wonderful work, thank you for an amazing day in Mondulkiri. See more..

  7. 5.0 Mondulkiri Tour Guide (15 reviews)
    - Authentic jungle tour
Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Eco Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Private Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Day Trips
    Mondulkiri Tour Guide image
If you think of going on ones of the many jungle tours which is offered in Mondulkiri , I can highly recommend to take contact to Mony Hong. Despite the price is higher than other tours you get a really authentic experience in much smaller groups (we were just two, - in other tour operators 10-15 person is normal). With Mony Hong you are not being charmed with elephant riding/bathing ( everyday bathing/washing is not good for the elephant). Going with Mony Hong you get the real deal, we sleept in the deep jungle, and saw gibbons in the morning, we also stayed with a bunong family, who made us lunch. MHs project is about keeping the government and capitalists away from deforesting the jungle, to safe the wildlife and the ethnic minority bunong people in their habitats and also enlighten and educate them how to take care of their own environment. We really enjoyed our 2 days, we got full value for the money and we are so glad we didn’t go with the lot. See more..

    - Lovely day with the elephants

Mondulkiri Eco Tour - Day Tours image
Went on a one day elephant tour with Mr Kech (the owner/guide). kech speaks both French and English fluently. I was with a group of French ladies and Kech did a great job communicating in both language. He would talk in French then in English for my ears. It’s a lovely walk in the jungle to see the forest. After about 1.5 hour walk we stopped at the river bend where the family with the two elephants were located. We fed the elephants with bananas while the staff prepared for lunch with fresh cat fish and chicken grilled on open fire. After lunch the elephants went into the river and we also jumped in to wash them. It was such an amazing experience to be with them so closely. I have had a number of elephant experiences and this was by far the most intimate one. From what I saw on the day, the elephants were treated well and I could see a bond between the keepers and the animals. I prefer an intimate experience like this than visiting the big elephant sanctuary. I wasn’t quite sure about the tour at first but then I am really glad that I did it. See more..

I had a great time in Mondulkiri. It was my highlight of the trip in Cambodia. Walking and swimming in the jungle with the elephants was amazing. It if def. life experience! After the elephant tour, I visited and stayed over night in Bunong village. My guide, Nara, was so much fun and kind. He and his family are happy people, the happiest family I've ever met. Everyone was very nice to me in the village too. The trekking with Nara was amazing. He is very attentive, and knows the jungle very well. I really want to fly back to Cambodia just to meet him and his people in the village. I feel very lucky that I had a change to meet them and learned a lot from them. I can't recommend it highly enough! Just go for it and meet the happy people in the village. :) See more..

    Mondulkiri Adventure Trekking image
We went for a one day hike and had a great time in jungle. Like with every jungle trip there is no guarantee that you will see any wildlife but we saw lots of apes and beautiful vegetation. What's most important is that the people behind this have been working here four for more than ten years and know what they are doing. You will feel it when you join them for a trek. See more..

Mondulkiri Gibbon & Wildlife Safari image
We booked one day at the elephant project with Torn and we were so impressed with his knowledge, experience and passion for the project that we booked a second day of trekking in the nearby Keo Seima wildlife sanctuary. Both experiences exceeded expectations. We loved how Torn clearly cared about the elephants, the local community and conservation, and we were lucky to see two groups of black shanked douc monkeys and various birds on our trek (we heard the gibbons but they were too far away) with the help of a ranger from the local village. The food was great and Torn was very helpful with logistics eg getting us to the bus. He has so many ideas for developing the project and putting money back into the minority community and we wish him every success in this! See more..

    Wehh Project Tours image
Our guide, Tuk, was very friendly and guided us through his village and several others on the half day tour. It was a relaxed day, but we saw a lot, including many different types of produce being grown, pigs, chickens and buffalo, and visited a natural medicine garden. We also sat and watched while bamboo was prepared for basket weaving, and we watched a village lady weaving a bag, an intricate craft which takes 5 days! We bought some of her bags and a scarf too. Lunch was tasty and there was plenty, including Khmer and traditional Bunong food. The children and villagers were shy but friendly and happy to welcome us into their homes. Our guide was also happy to answer any questions we had. At the end of the day we made a short stop at a beautiful waterfall, where we could take photos and wet our feet. We saw a lot, but it didn't feel rushed but neither was there too much waiting around. For an insight into every day life in a Bunong village, I highly recommend. See more..

To be honest, we were extremely lucky to be able to visit this exceptional series of waterfalls almost by ourselves, due to the Covid situation. It is truly stunningly beautiful nature, and well worth the 45 min trip out of Sen Monorom. I was honestly also very positively surprised by how tasteful and attractive the whole park was designed and laid out. See more..
  22. 4.0 Seima Protection Forest (13 reviews)
    - Primate and bird viewing trip in Seima Protected Forest
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Forests
    Seima Protection Forest image
I did a one day trip to see birds and primates, booked through Sam Veasna Centre in Sen Monorom at Hefalump Cafe. The Sam Veasna trips are not cheap as they have excellent quality guides and pay the Conservation Contribution, Forest Entry, and recompense the local community and local guides. But I thought it was definitely worth the money. I was picked up at my hotel and Pech, the Sam Veasna guide and I were driven to the base camp where we were joined by a local guide. Its hard to see birds in the forest, but we heard a lot and in the afternoon saw a number of species from a clearing. Pech had a spotting scope and a bird book and knew what he was doing. We also saw both the black shanked douc langurs and the yellow-cheeked gibbons, which are endangered species and hard to find. The Seima Forest seems to be one of the places that has not (yet?) been totally decimated by illegal logging due to a partnership with several NGO's, the Forest Commission and the local community. By supporting community based tourism I hope I encouraged protection of the area, and believe me Cambodia needs all the forest protection it can get. If you are a birder, a naturalist, or just want a chance to spend a day in some pretty good forest then this is an excellent trip. Food provided was adequate but basic as it had to be carried by the local guide in case we weren't near the base camp when it was time to eat. They also do an overnight version, they have tents on raised platforms and a very nice composting toilet with a view of the forest. See more..
