  1. 4.5 Ko Paen Bamboo Bridge (222 reviews)
    - Fun Walk
    Bridges
    Ko Paen Bamboo Bridge image
This is a fun walk along a bamboo bridge that was remarkably completed in three months. When you get on the bridge you marvel at how sturdy it really is and how it is fastened with lashings. In the other side is a small beach, hammocks, cute signs and a few vendors where you can refresh with a cold drink. It’s one of those things that you just have to do because you are there. Bring water with you if it’s a hot day. Wear a hat and sturdy shoes and enjoy!!The cost to cross the bridge is about $1 US. Be sure to bring local currency as the dollar is not accepted. See more..
  2. 4.5 Koh Paen Island (59 reviews)

    Koh Paen Island image
We all hired bikes, crossed the bamboo bridge, an experience itself, and spent the day riding around the island, talking to locals, waving at the children who ran out to see us, even popped into a temple along the way. Beautiful rural Cambodia can be found here. Plenty of fresh fruit sold at roadside stalls too. Well worth the day out :) See more..

    Cheung Kok Village image
The village is one of the nicest I have seen in Cambodia. I got to see how women weave Cambodian krama, silk scarf and also how they make other handicrafts from natural materials. I even got to plant rice with some villagers. You get to see how people live in harmony with animals and in peace in their village. All handmade handicrafts are available in their shop in the village. See more..

Very peaceful ruins on the outskirts of Kampong Cham. I've been here 3 times now and never seen another tourist there. It's an easy bicycle ride from any downtown hotel and if you come at sunset it's nice and cool and you'll see the bats leaving the temple in a swarm. There are some unique features here that might be worth reading up on. The temple is also surrounded by many stupas that are certainly worth wandering around among. See more..

    - A quiet gem in Kampong Cham

Phnom Srey and Phnom Pros image
If there are 1-2 hours to spare on a trip to Kampong Cham, Phnom Srey and Phnom Pros is nice peaceful place to visit. It is a quiet mysterious place of pagodas with mischievous cute monkeys. Feeding the monkeys with bananas would make you the most popular tourist in this sacred place. The place is nice for an hour exploration - besides monkeys there is a huge golden sleeping buddha, a four-face buddha surrounded by little golden figurines and many nice quaint pagodas. It is indeed a quiet gem hidden in Kampong Cham that is worth visiting. See more..

Take the stairway to heaven or coach to reach this awesome hilltop 7th Century Hindu Temple Ruins and Buddhist Temple. Views over the Mekong and valley are to die for and well worth the trip. Lucky to see the ceremony of monks, led by performers, collecting alms from the villagers along the tree lined road. See more..

Reatha Tours - Private Tours image
I recently visited Kampong Cham and decided to take one of Reatha's boat tours. It was a great day. The tour consisted of visiting several local sites, such as the Eco-Village, Bamboo Bridge and fishing village. The boat was simple but there were cold drinks and it was all very safe. As one of the previous reviews mentioned it would be a good idea to takes some pens and paper for local children you will meet in the Eco- Village. Reatha tours are based from the Mekong Sunrise, a restaurant and guest house on the riverside. You cant miss it. I found the staff incredibly helpful. They were also able to help me plan my trip to Phenom Penh by arranging a taxi for me. Very convenient and it did not cost me any extra than organizing this myself. Door to door service with no hassle. Very good service. I would like to thank Reatha and his staff for a great day and all the help they gave me during my time in Kampong Cham. See more..
  11. 3.5 The French Tower (88 reviews)
    - Bit of a climb!
    Monuments & Statues
    The French Tower image
I never felt unsafe on the climb, although let’s be clear, it’s a climb and I’m not sure would be good for young children. Use the stair above for hand holds and not the single rail and you’ll feel more secure. The second set of stairs have some flex but then so does a Boeing wing. The view at the top is worth the climb. No cost, no tourist vendors at top or bottom. Good free outing! See more..
