The Tourist Complex of the Station sheltered at the end of the 19th century the old Railway Station and the support facilities for the Dom Pedro II Railway, later called as Central do Brasil. The inauguration of the Railway Station building took place on July 16, 1887 and marked a new phase in the economy of Itabirito, as it stimulated investments in the opening of companies related to the steel, textile and leather sectors. The Tourist Complex of the Station was for a long time in disuse, until in 2002, when by the initiative of the public power it underwent a major reform, and was reinaugurated on September 2003. There are some services that currently operate in the Complex: the Reference Center and Tourist Information (Open times: working days, from 08:00 to 18:00 and on weekends and holidays from 09:00 to 15:00), the Association of Artists and Artisans (Open times: every day from 09:00 to 17:00), the Railroad Hall - used for several events, and the Municipal Public Library .See more..
O Centro de Atendimento ao Turista fica no centro da cidade, no Terminal Turístico Manuel da Costa Atayde. Viemos de ônibus de Ouro Preto e descemos em frente. As meninas nos atenderam com muita simpatia e competência. Nos deram um mapa, explicaram tudo sobre a cidade e explicaram a melhor forma de percorrer o centro histórico. Não fossem as explicações andaríamos a esmo pela cidade. Vale a visita.See more..

Fomos muito bem recebidos no Centro de Atendimento ao Turista de Catas Altas. O funcionário Filhinho foi muito atencioso e simpático conosco e nos passou ótimas informações sobre a cidade. Aliás, passar no CAT de cada cidade a qual se está visitando é muito importante para o bom planejamento do passeio. Sempre tem alguma dica que você não sabe. O prédio onde funciona o CAT foi residência do inglês, tenente-coronel João Emery. No Solar dos Emery funcionou um grande comércio do próprio, um hotel e um posto de Correios e Telégrafos. Atualmente, funciona ali também, o Centro Cultural de Catas Altas. Nas salas anexas do Solar estavam em exposição vários objetos e fotos antigas. Se tiver o passaporte da Estrada Real, este é local para carimbá-lo. Passe no CAT, pegue o mapa e faça um excelente passeio!See more..
