Get into Lima Duarte entrance and drive thru this small town with 20.000 habitants. follow the signs to Ibitipoca village...Lots of small hotels in the village. with goos prices excellent food and regular accomodations.. This was one of my favourite waterfalls I visited during my stay on Capitólio. It has several pools where you can relax or even swim since one of the pools is deeper and has a nice length. I think that every opportunity that you have to visit a place with a lot of green space is worth to embrace it. It’s a amazing place to go and just let the nature do the work. You can see a great part of the city of Belo Horizonte, and most of the metropolitan’s areas. I had a huge migraine on the day that my family and I went to Serra do rola-moca State park. But when we got up on the hill there was this view and this wind blowing on my face, that did all the natural medicine work and my headache went away. Even my gramma that complains about almost everything, said that it was a nice place to visit. Just nearby the state park you have some great options of restaurants. Excellent way to get a feel for the cityscapes and landscapes of Belo Horizonte. You can enter the park (tuesday-sunday, 8am-5pm) and walk up to the first view point on top of the Serra for great views over the city and the mountains beyond. For the best experience, walk the mountain top trail along the ridge: you must reserve (http://www.parqueserradocurral.com.br/eng/SobreTrilha.aspx) to do this as part of a guided group as it is gated off. The guides provide information about the city and wildlife (some speak English if you ask in advance). To do it at the weekend, you will need to reserve some weeks in advance as it's popular with locals. Weekdays are no problem. Highly recommended as an easy accessible escape from the bustling city below and as an excellent introduction to Belo Horizonte. Anyone with reasonable fitness can do this trail (5km, 2-3hrs with regular stops) but children under 14 are not allowed and 14-17 year olds must be with an adult.See more..

This place used to be a favorite for many people who wanted to sit, rest, visit or just relax. Things have changed. I hear many people complaining that it is not safe to stay at this park anymore. But it is still a cute place right in the heart of Juiz de Fora. Nice trees, lots of birds singing all day. Older people sit and play chess on little tables spread across the park during the day. You can find some great products on the days of special "fairs", or stands selling homemade preserves, bags, arts and crafts, besides fresh greens, fruit and vegetables. You will find taxi cars parked waiting for the next passenger, or you can visit the old Methodist Church with its beautiful architecture right across the street.See more..

Gruta de Janelão is the most spectacular cave I have seen. This is impressive at the level of Iguaçu and one of Brazil ‘s best sites, but sparsely visited. This park is new and requires a guide to accompany you. We worked with a wonderful guide Anislei 38 99951-0141, he is very attentive and a great person, currently working on his English. The visitor center is beautiful, easy to register your hike. all roads are accessible for small cars and trails are safe and well marked. Bring a headlamp for deeper caves. From Brasilia to Januaria we took MG 479, dirt road highway that is slow but does not require 4x4, we traveled in a small car for four hours averaging 40km/h. We stayed at Recanto das Pedras pousada (38) 9879-5710, wonderful place, convenient to the park and highly recommended.See more..

A Serra de Santa Helena é o ponto mais alto da cidade de Sete Lagoas. Abriga a capela de Santa Helena. Tem uma linda vista de toda a cidade. O acesso não é cobrado. Tem local para fazer piquenique e ver o por do sol. Melhor usar calçado confortável ou tênis. Em caso de chuva não tem muito espaço coberto, apenas dentro da capela. O PERD é uma enorme área de preservação da Mata Atlântica. Conta com infraestrutura para camping, hotel e restaurante. Excelente para quem gosta e fazer trilhas e quem gosta curtir um barquinho em uma de suas lagoas. O restaurante serve um PF por 14,00 muito bom para quem gosta de comida mineira simples. I have been to the park couple of months ago and really enjoyed it! The highlight was the forest walk where you go slightly uphill inside the pristine forest and beside a water stream. You can see marmosets, birds, lizards and even deer if you are lucky. The path is clean and there are many fancy cool bridges to cross the water stream from time to time. The park has a nice lake, a tasty restaurant, waterfalls...and an observatory on the top of the mountain. The sunset from that view point was just fabulous! I visited this park on two consecutive days, in the first weekend of 2021. My main aim was to picture some wildlife, and I succeeded in that quite well. The rock paintings are a nice bonus. On Saturday I walked the trail that splits off the main road to the left. This path is quite open, and I did not see too many birds, although some jays (plush-crested) were nice. There were many butterflies though, of many different species. After arriving at the visitor center, I walked the trail to where the water comes from the rocks. Sunday was much better. This time I walked to the painted rock, seeing a turtle on the way, and at the rocks themselves there were rock cavies. I also saw several birds that I hadn't seen before. On the way back to the entrance a deer crossed the road. The main drawbacks are that the park is only open for regular visits in the weekends, and that it is impossible to find a place to stay very close to the entrance. You either have to walk a lot to get to the entrance, or call a taxi. Overall, a nice park, and I found it worth the journey from Belo Horizonte and back.See more..
