Great visit into the biggest salt mine in Europe

The mine is very big and well maintained. It was a very beautiful experience. Inside, there are playgrounds for children and a planetarium too, a place where short films about the outer space are projected each 30 minutes, but you need to pay sepparately for that. The access inside the mine is done by minibuses.

Enormous. Great patterns on the walls
We first tried to go on a Sunday, but the lines and parking were ridiculous, so, we returned on a Wednesday and had a great visit. There’s a small fee to park (3 lei) and in the parking lot there are a few tourist stands (2 with salt and few mixed tourist things). The mine is basically in the city right across from a restaurant. After you pay the entrance fee you wait to board a shuttle bus. The ride is about 4 minutes above ground and 10 minutes descending a bumpy, hairpin turn salt road down into the mine. My son gets carsick but did okay just wearing sea bands. The mine itself has enormous vaulted ceilings and an collection of kids activities (mini-golf, bouncy houses, bikes, pool, ping-pong, planetarium). There’s lots of tables if you want to picnic. The platform that surrounds the top edge is not for visiting. Compared to the Turda Salt Mine, this one is much bigger and the entrance is more adventurous. The Turda mine has a bigger salt water lake and allows you to walk the platform on the top edge of the mine (which is honestly a little scary). There are lots of signs saying to wear a mask and although mask wearing seemed to be enforced in the shuttle bus it wasn’t really in the mine itself.

Overall pretty good experience and nice memories!
Booking the previous day evening but lucky to get one spot, and fast response from organization to agree on pickup location. Then, smooth organization, really helpful explanations, and allowing some flexibility during the tour to accomodate all customers requests the best they can. On the way back, possible to change drop off... even at airport to take flight at 6pm!!!! Anyway, great thing to do whatever the weather!! Cheers
