Iulia Hasdeu Castle Campina

The castle was built in honor of Iulia Hasdeu who was the first Romanian to study at the Sorbonne and who died at only 18 years of tuberculosis. Iulia's father was Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, one of the greatest personalities of Romanian culture of all times. The castle can be visited with a guide and has a translation machine. Also after the tour of the castle you can rest in its generous garden.

    fascinating history and symbols
I recommend for everyone ,no kids under 13/ 15 yrs, they wont understand the meaning of storys . Although not capitalized on history and loads the place and the story behind the story, make a memorable visit to the castle to visitors. The staff is very helpful and deserve to hear the stories and their feelings in this castle, the user has a loud pleasant and carries you while paintings inside make you 'visualize' better what narrating ghdul, ceiling recently beautiful, even if it was destroyed during the communist period, will be restored to the original design, the following year, 2017 will return to the castle with great pleasure. Photo fee: RON 10 Opening times: Tuesday - Sunday 8-16, closed Monday

Very good but a tad creepy !
It is in Campina which is easy to get to from Bucharest, but I do not think I would travel to see it if I was not in the area (I live in Campina now!), or passing by on the DN1. These small museums are always in danger of closure since they have few visitors and little finance, often run by volunteers - and in a relatively poor country like Romania volunteers are few and far between. That said the Hasdeu Castle (just a house really) is looked after quite well and the curator/attendant took us round (we were the only visitors that day) and made an effort to explain what it was all about - so well done her - only Romanian spoken so take note.
