This statue is of Murugan, the son of Parvati and Shiva, brother to Ganesha and the Hindu God of War. For a god of war, the depiction of Murugan looks rather benign. Cheerful even. Stil, it’s impressive for its height at nearly 50 metres. You cannot miss this sculpture if visiting Batu caves as it’s right next to the entrance at the bottom of the stairs. Impressive and worth seeing.See more..

When we arrived at the site, gates were locked! But, at the guardhouse, the sign says ‘Open’! So I had to search for someone so that I could enter. We really wanted to visit the palace as it holds much history about Sultan Alaeddin, 5th Sultan of Selangor. Finally found the guard. He allowed us in. Free entrance but parking is by the side of the road. Even though it was not very welcoming, we still wanted to visit since we drove from KL. And, it was worth it. Palace grounds was well maintained. Palace was empty; wished furnishings were still there. Good visit. See more..
