Lake McKenzie, Queensland, Australia

Ah the serenity

This secluded lake in the middle of Fraser Island is just beautiful. Took us about an hour from Kingfisher Bay Resort. There is a big car park and very good modern bush toilets where you can change if you need. There is a little walk from the carpark to the lake, but not too strenuous. The sand is amazing.....white and soft. The colours of the water are just beautiful. You are not allowed to take food to the lake because of dingos but there are a couple of fenced off picnic areas at the camp site. If it was nice warm weather (which it wasn't when we visited unfortunately), you could spend a few hours swimming and taking in the serenity. Make sure you bring the blow ups and pool noodles.

I could spend all day here
I was on a day tour and whilst I had the opportunity to swim in the lake the time was limited, I could easily spend all day here. The water is crystal clear, it is cool and very refreshing but gets deep very quickly. It is a very safe environment to swim in and the sand surrounding the lake is pure white, a tropical paradise set on a wonderful island.

    Take in the view
Paradise on Fraser Island. The lake is an amazing site with amazing colours. A great location to either swim or just walk and photograph. We visited as part of a tour and spent about 1 hour here and it was just breathtaking.
