It's been ages since I've written a travel review! Cairns after covid , 2 huge highlights and Cairns Canyoning was one of them. Went in October, maybe shoulder season but there were only 6 of us and 2 guides so that was awesome. Family of 3 - including a 12 year old. All first timers to canyoning, abseiling. Likes : EVERYTHING. Weather was superb but that's not credit of the guys. lol. We chose the Behana course because it was stated to be most family suitable and beginner friendly. Spot on!! But mind you it's not easy even if there were options. The first jump into the waterfalls. those who were unsure could go down maybe another 1 metre to try so options were given. Guides Peter and Marcio gave amazing instructions. They said 2X not to bring GO Pros as hundreds lay in the first jump 2 guests did - one had it round his helmet with those elastic bands and the other had his screwed one...... The very 1st jump. elastic bands fell off. Poor guy but Guides gave great advice to move one and enjoy the rest of the trip and he did. DONT bring your cameras.... it will not survive.. They offer $30 for all the photos of you and group and frankly it was worth every penny. They gave us a small discount for the whole family and I didn't have to do a thing the views are spectacular the water soooo freaking clean . Pete and Marcio know what they are doing and talking about. Experienced folks who knew how to keep the pace moving and also energy level up.. IT was SOO good that my husband and son signed up the next day for the Crystal (I think ) . we were flying out that night so I passed but they said it was as good but different experiences - they abseiled into a waterfall!!! So I would say. Go for it!! Frankly I enjoyed it more than the reefs.. I will also post my reef experience next.See more..

Thanks to John and Rhett for such a great experience! Only a small group so we each had our own kayak. They made us feel super safe while ensuring we got to get wet and experience the white water. I recently had the pleasure of a Tandem Hang Gliding experience with Oz Paragliding and Hang Gliding. (Christmas gift from hubby) I had such an amazing experience with Lisa; she was fantastic to deal with, helpful and flexible. Heaps of communication in the lead up including directions and maps for where to find the drop zone. Lisa is hilarious fun and yet very professional. The tandem hang-glide is really cleverly done, as you and towed up to altitude behind a light aircraft. This allows way more time in the air than usual. Once released from the towing aircraft it is ALL glide. The descent was exciting as Lisa knew I was keen for a bit of adrenaline so a few dips and spins on the way down. I’ve done five round trips with Scamper to various islands for camping, and each trip has been on time, convenient, and super enjoyable. The skippers are great at telling you about your island stops and the scenery is amazing in this part of the Whitsundays. Scamper also has a great selection of camping gear available for rent. Booking and check in are super easy as well. They will also transport your kayaks for a small extra charge. I highly recommend scamper for your Whitsunday Island camping adventures.See more..

Springmount Raceway is a full drag racing strip in Far North Queensland. Motor racers and enthusiasts come from as far away as Perth and Darwin. The drivers say it has one of the best drag strips in Australia - Dead flat and plenty of flat breaking strip. The burnout pad ends each day with a real buzz. You can come for a day or there are camping grounds for caravans to tents. Showers and toilets facilities are good. There are lots of food vendors and bars if required. No BYO. Town water freely available. No power or water hookups however. We go there from the Thursday night and leave on Monday morning and free camp. If you like motor racing you will love this one.
