    Huay Mongkol Temple image
What a stunning statue, of the Monk who performed miracles to those who needed. You will need a good hour to walk around this religious park, have some cash to donate and there are some souvenirs. It's free entrance and there is a coffee shop and ATMs. Taxis were not available from there so you would need to pre book one or ask the one who brought you there if they could wait for you. I would recommend to come really early on morning, I was here from 0800hrs so you can avoid crowds and the heat. The statue itself is breathtaking, and so many things to see and do. Highly recommend! I hope my miracle happens. See more..

    Chopsticks Hill (Khao Takiab) image
The temple seems nice, not a lot of steps to climb, near the sea. Have a lot of monkeys around this area, according to tour guide, those monkeys are quite aggressive so better stay away from them. A lot of local seafood restaurants around so can spend few hours here to have lunch. See more..
  3. 4.0 Wat Khao Takiap (645 reviews)
    - Monkeys

    Wat Khao Takiap image
There are warning signs everywhere - with accompanying photos - of the injuries caused by these aggressive monkeys. The long, impressive flight of steps up to the main stupa is so steep that I had to give up half way , probably missing out on a boatload of merit. However the humans on site are friendly. The surrounding statues (including a couple of plaster dinosaurs) are worth a photograph or two as well See more..

    Buddha Statue image
This was a 10min walk from our villa. It’s a free attraction where you can marvel at the tall Buddha statue. At its foot there is several other Buddha statues that you can pay your respects. A donation will grant you flowers to place and a gold leaf stamp to put on the statue for good luck. There are steps further up but it looks steep and we were with parents so we decided to skip it. Other than that the place still serves as a good viewpoint over the seafront. See more..

    Lub Lae Cave image
We had the whole cave to ourselves on a May weekday morning. No need for sweaters as it is not much cooler than outside. Very humid inside but no water accumulation even though it has been raining daily. Our 3 1/2 year old did fine, The lighting and "stairs" facilitate touring. Recommend shoes with good traction. Great photos. See more..

  10. 4.5 Wat Khao Krailart (58 reviews)
    - Lonely, old temple with a view
    Lookouts • Religious Sites
    Wat Khao Krailart image
I gave this temple a "VERY good" rating mostly because the spectacular view a visitor has after having climbed a long stair case. Wat Khao Krailas sits on top a mountain at the southern end of Hua Hin inbetween two other temples also on mountain tops. Each is different, all afford great views. This temple appears old and a bit neglected, but is still quite charming. Several large Buddhas grace the mountain, but you have to look for them: in a cave, in a small wooden hut, on the hillside looking east and one looking south. According to a nun I met, this Wat is a lonely place, sees few tourists and, therefore is good for a moment of quiet contemplation. See more..
  11. 4.5 Saint Theresa Catholic Church (46 reviews)
    - The building itself is so pleasing to the eye and is hidden behind the main street in Hua Hin. It's easy to pray here.

    Saint Theresa Catholic Church image
It's Christmas day 2017 and I'm away from home for first time. The weather is warm, not Irish cool. The first sight is that there is lots of parking around a well maintained grounds. The church is set in the middle and is impressive and welcoming. The 9oc mass is in Thai, not a bother. Inside is a beautifully decorated building with a choir and full children's orchestra. The mass opened with "Joy to the World", sung and played with a passion words will fail to explain. 80mins later the mass was over much to my regret , ie the opposit to home experience. I have gone back to meditate in case I was dreaming on the 25th....... I wasn't, thank God. Just visit to sit there and allow yourself to be yourself. See more..

    Wat Kuiburi image
Wat Kuiburi/Kuiburi temple is the oldest buddhist temple in Kiburi, very much revered by Thais from near and far. The temple ground comprise of the famous temple with a statue of a special monk who often fasted for many days, and a number of buddha statues, and several other buildings including the living quarters of monks and nuns, a rare sight indeed. When we visited we could hear the chanting of monks from one building, and observe the leisurely gathering of a group of nuns. Part of the main temple was being renovated and thus closed for the public. Well worth a visit See more..

    Wat Nong Hoi image
You can add this to the list of things to do the next time you are staying in Prachuap Khiri Khan. It's about 45 minutes from Prachuap Khiri Khan or 30 minutes if you are staying in Bang Saphan. Having been templed out, we were not expecting much but this was an unexpected gem. You need GPS to find it as it is on a rural road and the actual temple is not very apparent from the road. The people here are warm and friendly and this is certainly one of the most beautiful temples we've seen in the Southern Region of Thailand. The layout is also beautiful and even my kids had fun. There's chickens to also keep the kids entertained. I give my highest recommendations to this little-known temple. See more..

Only 15 minutes drive from where we were staying this beautiful litlle temple is worth a look. We were on our way to one of the markets on the Burma border and took this in on the way. A local who was there at the time was clearly delighted to see a European looking at his temple. See more..
