    Pekan is a relaxed Royal town, situated along the Pahang river. The beautiful Moorish style mosque was built in 1929 and has just been renovated to become a museum with historical islamic artefacts (some over a 1000 years old) and among others also an nice collection of musical instruments. You are welcome to just relax in this well airconditioned area, read some of the books or have a talk with other guests. There is no entry fee and you will find the Museum Sultan Abdullah just next door. You will also be able to find simple restaurants within walking distance. See more..

    The school was first known as the government English school and started in 1913. At that time the building was only a wooden structure with only a few classses. the school was officially launched in 1926 by Sir Hugh Clifford and later it was named after him. there is also a clifford school in Kuala kangsar also open by Sir Hugh Clifford. today the school has grown with a number of blocks. these are the last of the government englsih schools in the country.     This burnt rice is one of the proofs of Mahsuri's curse. You will need to visit this historic site to see by yourself the existence of burned rice. To get to the rice fields, you have to go through the bazaar where there are small shops selling various items like 'batik', 'gamat' (sea cucumber)-based products and souvenirs.
