Ones may take a stroll around the place to see the other architectures and visit the museum that contains many antique collections. 5.0Wat Chaloem Phrakiat Phrachomklao Rachanuson(91 reviews) - Drop by for some good exercise if you don't mind the high foreigner charges. Nice views Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites • Scenic Walking Areas
Nice but feel the charges for foreigners as usual is unreasonably high. Due to that I feel it's ok to come here if you're in the area, but is it worth it to make a special trip? You park at the base, buy your entrance fees, tickets for the ride in the pickup up to the intermediate level. Get out the pickup then start walking. Lots of steep steps going up. The steps are well made. There's some signage along the way explaining things. All in Thai. You would think that after charging the foreigners much higher fees to enter the area they would at least take the trouble to translate the text into foreign language. View of the pagoda at the top is nice, as the pics you see. However the pictures of the top from the drones are much more impressive than your view from where you can stand. Would I go again? Probably not due to the charges. Been there done that. Would I go again if the prices were more reasonable? Only if I was in the area.See more..

4.0Wat Chiang Rai(13 reviews) - Chiang Rai temple in Lampang Religious Sites
Located on the roadside near the clock tower, the gorgeous Lanna style white temple was established over 300 years ago by evacuated Chiang Rai lord as a memorial to his hometown (that's why it is called Chiang Rai temple). It has no fence, wall or any arch door like other temples so that pedestrians, riders, drivers, and passengers could clearly see its stunning architecture and the outstanding white Buddha statue. Very beautiful.See more..

After parking our vehicle, we spent the next 40 minutes sight-seeing the beautiful temple. This Lanna style temple has many wonderful decorations, whether it be Naga stairs, arched entrance, bas reliefs, or an elegant Japanese style Buddha statue (it was not complete at the time when we visited, what a pity). Visitor can also enjoy watching a panorama view of grassy landscape of Mae Tha. Moreover, there is a coffee shop to relax and have some drinks or buy some souvenirs. Don't miss this place !See more..

This was an interesting excursion. The temple is quite old and clearly not a major tourist attraction. I loved the book exchange they had available and they clearly were interested in community development as well. This is the kind of temple worth supporting. See more..

This tranquil temple is an imitation (in precise scale) of Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya (India) where Buddha enlightened. Inside the temple contains 3 Buddha statues in 3 different colors (the black one, the white one, and the golden one) and many artifacts. Recommend to walk around (outside) the pagoda to see its pattern and greenish rural view.See more..
4.5Wat Pratu Pong(3 reviews) - Ancient gorgeous Religious Sites
This ancient little temple is located in Tha Ma-O community. The first thing we saw was the ancient brick wall and its charming entrance. Our guide told us that the place was once a fortress against Burmese army in 1790. The temple was super clean and tranquil. Its halls are the perfect mixture of Lanna-Chinese with wonderful decoration. Its back door also open to Lampang cultural street market which held every Friday night.See more..
4.0Wat Mon Phaya Chae(2 reviews) - Great Climbing, Great City View, Poor temple Religious Sites
If you fancy climbing 600 Steps in a very nice forest surrounding and get a great view of the city, then please go there. But if you want to see nice temple, well maintained etc... go away. We did enjoy the first part very much. Beside if you want to know how thailand treat dogs, you will witness by yourself on the roads so many poor dogs with skinny puppies. Disgrace and shame on Thailand.See more..
5.0Wat Nakta Luang(1 review) - Ancient temple with many paintings. Religious Sites
The (about) 200 years old charming temple is simultaneously a sacred place and an art gallery. The highlight is an outstanding 164 years old Lanna style (with a mixture of Chinese decoration) main hall. There are a lot of paintings (both antique and new) that represent local life in the old days or some stories in Tipitaka spread around the area. Visitor can also take a stroll on a weave bamboo bridge across the grass field and absorb a rural atmosphere.See more..
