Drop by for some good exercise if you don't mind the high foreigner charges. Nice views

Nice but feel the charges for foreigners as usual is unreasonably high. Due to that I feel it's ok to come here if you're in the area, but is it worth it to make a special trip? You park at the base, buy your entrance fees, tickets for the ride in the pickup up to the intermediate level. Get out the pickup then start walking. Lots of steep steps going up. The steps are well made. There's some signage along the way explaining things. All in Thai. You would think that after charging the foreigners much higher fees to enter the area they would at least take the trouble to translate the text into foreign language. View of the pagoda at the top is nice, as the pics you see. However the pictures of the top from the drones are much more impressive than your view from where you can stand. Would I go again? Probably not due to the charges. Been there done that. Would I go again if the prices were more reasonable? Only if I was in the area.

A Thai Sky Pagoda in Lampang Province
I saw a photo of this temple about 2 weeks before hearing about it through photos on Facebook for the first time, and realizing it was within easy reach of a short trip I was planning to take to Chiang Mai. The temple did live up to the stunning photos I'd seen. To get to the temple, you drive to a starting point below mountain where there are a few restaurants and other vendors as well as a ticket office. The ticket includes entry to the park as well as a round trip ride to the higher base of the mountain itself. After a walk of around 5 minutes you come to a sign that says the Sky Pagoda is 540 meters ahead. The 540 meters turns out to be entirely comprised of staircase after staircase. The staircase was very solidly built (so well built I wondered who'd actually built it since it is impressive), and apart from stair climbing the terrain was not at all difficult. There are benches spaced frequently on the way up to stop for a rest. I think the trip up took around 20 minutes. Once you reach the top, there are several temple buildings perched on the rocks of the mountain peak. The air was hazy when I was there but the view was still dramatic and well worth the trip. This really was an amazing place to visit. I'd never seen anything yet like it in Thailand.
