You won't find any dusty pots or Buddha images in this relatively new (opened 2011) museum, but you will learn a lot about the history and development of Lampang. The displays with Thai and English explanations are excellent and you'll leave with a good knowledge of the teak industry, transportation, local culture and the war years. The museum is located at the Clock Tower intersection a short walk from many riverside guest houses along Talad Gow Road and is open 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday through Friday with free admission. Just behind the museum on Thakhrao Road is the Tourist Information Center where very helpful staff will provide you with maps and brochures. See more..

This free entrance museum provided us wonderful informations in every aspect about Lampang, whether it be historical facts, geographical features, administrative districts, ethnicities, legends, cultures, food, festivals, local dialects, famous products, and highlight attractions. All informations are in Thai and English. Some of them use multimedia presentation to tell a story (e.g. horse carriage, history of Lampang). There are also a model of Lanna arch door and fun activity like playing jigsaw puzzles about Lampang. Full hour of having fun and gain more knowledge. Well worth visit. See more..
